Conservatives may want to read this piece about socialism

It's an opinion by a hypocrite nobody ever heard of who enjoys the benefits of capitalism in the greatest Country in the world but yet remains a hard core socialist left winger. Keep it up lefties. The further you lurch toward Stalinism the easier it becomes to choose between parties. .

“The Meltdown”...that’s super dramatic...I like that, it pulls at the tolerant heart strings of self proclaimed noble Liberals.
Yep, it was .GOVS fault and if I left my keys in the ignition of my car and it gets stolen it’s my fault.
There you have it folks, that’s how shit works in backward, unaccountable LibTardia.
Well, your obvious depth of knowledge on this particular topic - demonstrated so clearly, comprehensively and articulately - clearly dwarfs that of my own.

Are the banks totally blameless in giving out mortgagers to people they knew could not make the payments?

No, they are not blameless. They are globalists / elitists at their core ownership and worked hand in hand with BIG GOVERNMENT to fatten the wallets of these people.

Then idiot Leftists will say... "yeah, but they were fined millions".....

STUPID! What's a fine of millions when you MADE BILLIONS?? THINK!!!

And yet they scream for Socialism which is all about even BIGGER GOVERNMENT.

COMMON SENSE FOLKS.

Give me a fucking BREAK already!!

I'm hoping we can stay on point here and not degenerate into yet another shallow, platitude-filled discussion on the evils of socialism.

Full disclosure up front: Writer Michael Tomasky is a hardcore left wing partisan ideologue. But in this piece, he actually offers some serious, reasonable, salient advice about the rise in popularity of socialism in this country:

Opinion | What Are Capitalists Thinking?

Examples:

You want fewer socialists? Easy. Stop creating them. Ask yourself: If you’re 28 like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the New York congressional candidate who describes herself as a democratic socialist, what have you seen during your sentient life?

You witnessed the financial meltdown of 2008, caused by big banks betting against themselves. Capitalists might want to consider how all that looked to a young person who came from a working-class family and who probably knows someone who lost a job or even his house, while some of the bankers who helped create the mess walked away with golden parachutes, like that of Countrywide Financial’s Angelo Mozilo, which The Times valued at $88 million.

So, back now to our 28-year-old. She was born in 1990. She will probably remember, in the late ’90s, her parents feeling pretty good about things — median household income did go up under Bill Clinton more than they had under any president in a long time, even more than under Ronald Reagan. But ever since, the median income picture has been much spottier, hardly increasing at all in inflation-adjusted dollars over 18 long years. And those incomes at the top have shot to the heavens.

So if you were a person of modest or even middle-class means, how would you feel about capitalism? The kind of capitalism this country has been practicing for all these years has failed most people.

Thoughts? Or is this just more "fake news"?
.
Fake news. Complete crap.

Our educational system blows and teaches only the beauty of being a societal parasitic leech aka. Socialist.

They dont teach you that Socialism redistribution heads only one way: to the political leadership. The poor and working class get fucked - forever

You did an awesome job ‘dressing it up’. Still total fucking bullshit.
I struggle to understand how people can possibley spin and repackage this shit. The borrower, a grown adult said via signature “I CAN PAY THESE PAYMENTS AND ADHERE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT”
That’s it....end of fucking story.
The Lib way is to divert blame...it’s what you do, you hate personal accountability.
"Total fucking bullshit".

Got it. It just never happened. I don't see it! It's not there!

I realize none of this information exists within the ideological closed circuit of your world, but it does exist. Not hard to find, either.
.

Mac, come on man, you’re a smart guy, I read your posts. THINK.
What type of society are you trying to create when you say a grown adults signature at the bottom of a legal document isn’t acknowledgement of soul / final responsibility?
You're ignoring everything I wrote. I provided 12 specific, clear, concise examples of malpractice and pure lapses of fiduciary standards by the financial services industry (of which I am a part) that created the Meltdown.

If you wanted to, you could look any of them up. You're on the internet, right now. Go ahead.
.
as with most circumstances, there isn't 1 way to look at these things anymore. if i'm going to take on a home loan and promise to pay $1500 a month for 30 years, that's on me. i read (or should have read) the terms and i found them ok.when i went to buy my own first home 20 years ago i "qualified" for a LOT more than i spent, but i didn't want to be responsible for the payback of more than putting me just over my usual rent. so i got a nice 2k sq ft home built and it's been a great home ever since.

i don't disagree the gov got into this and messed things up. that's what happens when our gov gets into these issues anyway. they put rules on it to try and "handicap life" as if it should be equal in all aspects, but it just isn't. left to their own methods and accountability, the banks would never have given out a lot of loans they in fact had to give out or risk gov intrusion into their business.

this is why i want LESS government in our lives, not more. once a side gets in power they want to use that power to punish the other side and we've been seeing that for several admins back and it's only getting worse.

i don't discount the kids today are seeing a very different world than i did. but nothing can compensate for my own desire to make it on my own as much as i can. personal accountability - something liberals for the most part hate - just isn't what it used to be.
The Meltdown was in many ways the result of government refusing to regulate the very "securities" and derivatives that damn near brought our economy down.
.

Negative
The real problem was caused by uneducated, ignorant subprime borrowers who didn’t have the iQ to do simple arithmetic or read and understand loan docs. PERIOD
END OF STORY.

BL, I usually agree with you, but the borrowers can't get loans unless they are allowed to do so and are approved.

You're right, most of them were stupid and just thought they could get a bigger home without the bigger payments somehow. That was really stupid.

But still, they couldn't have done it without getting cleared for the loans. That came from above.
The question is why were people who obviously could not afford these homes allowed to get the loans to get them anyway?

Mac, sorry bud but you’re acting as if you’ve uncovered something revolutionary. You haven’t. There’s no spin left, it doesn’t matter how you “articulate” it....you think you’re being super intellectual and “articulate” by using big words, cloudy verbiage and mumbo-jumbo but the facts remain the same. In the real world an adults signature signifies total and final responsibility. This is simple shit for third graders.

When you start a lie you must start with some truth. hardcore left wing partisan ideologue uses this approach in most statements to gain your attention.

Well, whatever you'd like. As I said, all this information is readily available. I certainly haven't uncovered anything "revolutionary", I'm just pointing out what happened. It's only a mystery to people who choose to ignore it.

Are the banks totally blameless in giving out mortgagers to people they knew could not make the payments?

YES

And why is that?

Please expound.

Look fellas, there’s nothing trivial about this subject. Let me dumb it way down for ease of understanding.
If Wells Fargo, through the kindness of their heart decided to send ShaQuita, a hood rat with a 420 fico an unsecured credit card with a $100k limit and she ran the card up and defaulted how and the hell can any twisted mind conclude that it was Wells Fargo who ran up the credit line and defaulted?

The more Democrats go left the whiter and younger the Democrats become.

And considering the fact that young white people are not that big of a demographic anymore, that is not good for Democrats.

It also emboldens young conservatives to come out of the woodwork to counter them.

Democrats lost the state senate in NEW YORK in 2016. It is highly possible that Nixon will push Cuomo out of the overton window as she goes socialist to try to make the primary closer.

The loan officer does not give a shit whether you can pay back the loan or not.

His only motivation is his commission on the sale.

She went to college..... she was indoctrinated into socialism. And again....Venezuela? Socialism is slavery, and the young skulls full of mush have been lied to for 16 years if they get a college degree....

I stopped reading right after this major crock of shit. “You witnessed the financial meltdown of 2008, caused by big banks betting against themselves.”
Grown ass adults signed the bottom of every single loan document...they accepted FULL responsibility and acknowledged they could adhere to the guidelines of the loan. People that try to sell that whole “I was victimized by the banks” bullshit are unaccountable fucking bitches....FUCK THEM!
Stop trying to blame the other guy or ‘the system’ for your retarded decision making...YOU FUCKED YOUR RETARDED SELF...PERIOD!
Ah. Please see post 9, which provides an actual, non-Talk Radio account of what happened. From someone in the industry, who lived through it 24/7.

what is total bullshit? did home owners fail to pay their mortgage or not? It's quite simple.
Well, it really isn't.

If you would like to refute any of my 12 specific points, you're welcome to.

so you're saying that a person with a mortgage is not entitled to pay? hly fk dude.

Because Wells Fargo is on the hook for the money and might want to think about being a bit more selective in who they lend the money to.

It's not a big deal to turn down questionable loan applications.
