Climate is Weather

Peace River, Alberta has a cold climate, but, summer weather occasionly has 90 degree days. Florida has a warm climate, but winter weather occasionly has freezing days. But stupid Elektra cannot differantiate between weather and climate. And ain't gonna allow anyone to tell her the differance.
yep so what?

Why is the American northeast experiencing cold weather?

It, and other areas of the world are experiencing cold weather because Rossby waves have formed in the circumpolar jet stream. Why have Rossby waves formed in the circumpolar jetstream? Those waves have formed because of unusually high sea surface temperatures (SST) in the tropics.

Boston is buried in snow because no one has the guts to do anything about human GHG emissions.

Let me be the first to say.. BULL SHIT!

Another straw man from a straw-man.. Lets burn this straw man, shall we! Rossby waves are formed due to temperature imbalance. They affect the portion of the earth in summer and have very little to no effect on the portion of the earth in winter when the temperature imbalance is at its lowest point for the hemisphere.. Your Rossby straw man just went up in smoke as did your attempt to blame it on GHG's.

How do we determine where the energy imbalance exits and what is placing pressure on the polar low and its accompanying jet stream? The polar low is created by the rotation of the earth, the electromagnetic field above the pole, the expanding atmosphere and down-welling cold.

Rotation is constant, thus the increased drag on earths atmosphere is caused by a weakening and enlargement of the atmospheric layer when our magnetic fields weaken. This increased drag creates a Hadley Cell style roll narrowly defined. This narrowly defined cell creates very low pressure and allows the polar low to enlarge as we see today. The Low will often drift and become displaced from the pole or split into two lows as we have seen the last two years.

Generally speaking the polar low has two high pressure centers on either side. When the low expands these highs are pushed into the polar jet causing wild dips to the equator with warm on one side and very cold on the other. The imbalance is being driven from massive cooling at the pole.

The equator is relatively stable and very little temperature change occurs here as the earths atmosphere is the thickest and the most dense.

There is a reason the tropical storm tracks have been narrowly kept to the equator, there is no pressure from warming to move them poleward. This is indicative of a cooling world. While cooling is being forced equatorially from the area of greater pressure. If it were truly warming the polar low and its jet stream would be tightly contained. It is not...

Why is it most people are confused by the paradoxical presentation of earths systems?

Mojave Desert

In a single day in the Mojave, the climate (weather patterns for a particular region or habitat) is often very extreme, reaching hot temperatures of 50°C (120°F) and even hotter in the summer and often much cooler when the sun goes down (outside of the city - where there is no concrete or asphalt to hold the heat). In the winter, the temperature often stays below freezing at night but warms up to a comparatively comfortable temperature in the day. Because of these extremes, it is full of organisms with unique adaptations many people don't even realize exist!

My, what a beautiful place for a big solar farm. And that ridge would be perfect for windmills.

Be sure its where you live... Oh and you need to pay a fine for every bird it kills and the land use..

Of course climate is weather.

The AGW climate crusading nutters are famous for separating the two, but are very quick to jump onto weather predictions that end up falling flat on their face!!!

We've seen it, how many times?

Kinda funny.......they call skeptics "deniers".:2up::eusa_dance::eusa_dance:
Weather gets in the way of their ideology. They all repeat the same thing, like drones.

Actually, no one has made the comments you claim they've made. If you disagree, show it to us.

Every Scientific Society, every National Academy of Science, and every major University has policy statements that AGW is real, and a clear and present danger. But the slobbering idiots on the net, never posting any credible evidence, claim all these people are wrong. Looks to me like we have several millions of the really smart ones. And you people have fake British Lords, and un-degreeded ex-TV weathermen. Oh yes, and an obese junkie on the radio.

How about two? James Hansen;

Hansen was born in Denison, Iowa to James Ivan Hansen and Gladys Ray Hansen.[4] He was trained in physics and astronomy in the space science program of James Van Allen at the University of Iowa. He obtained a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics with highest distinction in 1963, an M.S. in Astronomy in 1965 and a Ph.D. in Physics, in 1967, all three degrees from the University of Iowa. He participated in the NASA graduate traineeship from 1962 to 1966 and, at the same time, between 1965 and 1966, he was a visiting student at the Institute of Astrophysics at the University of Kyoto and in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Tokyo. Hansen then began work at theGoddard Institute for Space Studies in 1967.[5]

Richard Alley;

Alley was educated at Ohio State University and University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was awarded a PhD in 1987.[10]

On 28 April 2014 the National Center for Science Education announced that its first annual Friend of the Planet award had been presented to Alley and Michael E. Mann.[28] He was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society (ForMemRS) in the same year, his nomination reads:

“ Richard Alley has made outstanding contributions to the study of ice, its interactions with the landscape and its link to climate. He has made important advances in topics as diverse as grain-scale physics controlling ice deformation, the role and nature of ice streams, and processes at the bed of the ice sheet. His work synthesised the evidence that abrupt climate changesoccurred in the past, and drove hypotheses about their cause and the role of ice on ocean circulation. Alley is also an outstanding science communicator, whose skill and enthusiasm has influenced both policymakers and large public audiences.[4]
He had win the 2014 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Climate Change category for his “pioneering research” into the “mechanics of ice and its implications for abrupt climate change,” in the words of the jury’s citation.

And a bonus;

Jennifer Francis;

Education[edit]
Francis received her PhD in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington in 1994.

Career[edit]
From 1987 to 1988, she was a research assistant at the Ames Research Center. From 1988 to 1994, while attending the University of Washington, she was a research assistant at the department of Polar Science Center there

And in this video Dr. Francis predicts exactly what is happening on the East Coast, and explains the causes.

And, I could go down the list of the scientists that have published articles in peer reviewed journals concerning the effects that are being seen today from the warming. But that would be several thousand people.

oh yeah buddy, every day on here. go look at any thread in environment.

no one cares s0n! all we want is the experiment that shows that 120 PPM does anything to temperatures. just present that little nugget and call it a day.

don't care, she lies.

For the perspectively-challenged OP, here's the difference between climate and weather...

I too am amazed somebody actually made a video to state the obvious. You're welcome.

Why not take a look outside, and get back to us with what your climate is like today, beings that what its like outside, is your climate.

Uh.... nnnnnnnno, that would be what the weather is. It's cold, with yet another winter weather advisory out.
That's good to know day-to-day, in fact it's crucial as it's been dramatically changeable lately and often severe. I check on that a few times every day.

But my climate is a constant. I don't need a report or a look outside to know that; it's fixed. This is what my climate looks like -- the light blue area:

Climatemapusa2.PNG

Tomorrow, or yesterday, or last month, or next August, that map will be exactly the same.

But here's what the weather looks like:
usa_ICast.gif

-- and tomorrow, or yesterday or next August, this map will look completely different. Matter of fact it's already changed from what it looked like earlier today.

Why is this one always changing while the first one isn't?

Because "climate" is not "weather".
Never has been, never will be.

Than do it, make a thread, you have tens of thousands of posts under your user names, so it should be no problem.
