Church of England calls for its OWN land to be donated to gypsies and travellers | Daily Mail Online
The Church of England this weekend called for more land to be made available for gipsies and travellers.
Its governing body, the General Synod, voted in favour of a motion that said church bodies should ‘play their part’ to let be used as traveller sites.
Church leaders also agreed to give more support to tackling racism and discrimination directed towards the travelling community.
One member of the Synod, a parishioner in the north of Chelmsford diocese, spoke out against the plans after she was forced to clean up excrement from a car park.
Quite a brave move by the Church who will now find themselves in endless legal wrangles with snotty nimbys. But this is what a Church should be doing.
There is a camp down the road from us and there are no problems.
