Chinese muscle in on Afghanistan’s rare earth mineral deposits, create headaches for Biden

We tried the idiocy of allying with terrorists in both Syria and Libya. One gave us ISIS the other gave us Benghazi. That path is doomed to fail, even suggesting it reveals contempt for history and lessons learned and paid in American blood.

Who were our allies in Libya and Syria?

CIA operating under the Taliban? Oh you mean the poppy fields...yeah who cares if terrorists are in control raping every woman, girl, boy, and goat in site before killing them.
Right! Nobody really cares all that much. Certainly not China, Russia, or Iran.
But what about America? You're suggesting America doesn't care either?
Chances are pretty good that Britain didn't!

In Alberta for periods of months when the weather was fine and the black flies weren't out. Beginning in 99 when the US started to pour huge amounts of money into Syncrude and Suncor.
And as a contractor in the Instrumentation/Electronics field.
And continuing to 05.

I was thinking Ghawar, Safania, Uthemania, or maybe Shaybah and Manifa.

Who were our allies in Libya and Syria?
Ha! Makes the alliance with the Taliban sound like a Sunday walk in the park.

Mark my words my friend, America is going to snatch some kind of victory out of the jaws of defeat!
A little backroom cooperation with the Taliban is America's new talking point!

Figure it out yourself, this information has been available for years. I'm not your tutor.

Really? NATO and the Arabs wanted to stop the flood of Libyan refugees into Italy.

ISIS cam out of Iraq back when Dubya was president.

I knew what you were thinking. You seemed to be suggesting that a person needed to be there to understand all of it.
What is it on which you want agreement?

I just know Dubya wasn't an oil man.. He must have been drinking and snorting coke to be so GD wrong and stupid about Iraq, The moron could have had it all for 20 billion and NO war..

That goes for everyone saying they hate immigrants.
I have NEVER heard ANYONE say they hate immigrants--the animosity is created when you add the words, which you conveniently omitted, ILLEGAL, and UNBRIDLED to immigration. Yes, I am a product of immigration. Yes, my ancestors immigrated to the US, legally and orderly.

Nobody could know down to the last man/woman how many Americans remain behind and how many still desire to get out.
All that is certain is that some stragglers are still showing up at the airport and are leaving freely and unhampered by the Taliban.
The Taliban may or may not detain some they consider to be traitors to their country, as would be normal practice for any victorious army.

Trumpers should be very cautious of causing any trouble with the Taliban
now until America is satisfied that the evacuation is as complete as it can get. It will have to eventually be sorted out how many Americans are choosing to stay behind and who they are.

This thing can't possibly be politically spun as a failure for Biden now. He had no control over the airport when ISIS got the 13, and neither did the Taliban have complete control.

Wow, just wow!

NO, it is not "NORMAL" for America to leave AMERICANS behind. "Stragglers"? Are you serious? Americans are being held, HOSTAGE. Is there any other description?

"Trumpers should be very cautious of causing any trouble with the Taliban". Seriously?

How can it NOT be a failure for Biden? President Biden put the Taliban in charge of security. He told us they were providing security.

You are dumb as a rock.

It wasn't about oil unless Dubya is much dumber than I thought.
Brings to mind your over-emphasis on Afghanistan's mineral resources when in fact it was more about the strategic location of that piece of real estate.
But then why was it so 'strategic' if it wasn't all about the cabbages in the fields.

Oh, and if we're going to get on about Syria then I would contend that it's all about the Zionist regime's land grab.

Pretty good discussion here today, with fewer spammers trying to praise Trump and do dirt on Biden!

Don't hold back, just tell us how ignorant you are about Iraq. Allow me to point out to you:

"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow."

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."

- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998.

“Earlier today, I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraqis nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.”

“Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.”

“Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.”

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."

- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 .

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons but has not yet achieved nuclear capability."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002.

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 .

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002.

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... "Saddam Hussein's regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal."
- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

"The debate over Iraq is not about politics. It is about national security. It should be clear that our national security requires Congress to send a clear message to Iraq and the world: America is united in its determination to eliminate forever the threat of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction."
- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

“We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 .

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. That is why the world, through the United Nations Security Council, has spoken with one voice, demanding that Iraq disclose its weapons programs and disarm. So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but it is not new. It has been with us since the end of the Persian Gulf War."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003" (Currently President Barack Hussein Obama’s Secretary of State)

We Fought A Good Fight, Clinton Says

Great. They’re calling for open violence against tea party activists at Obama’s rally and at Biden’s rally they’re calling the opposition “barbarians.”
It must be more of the new tone we were promised.

Vice President Joe Biden told supporters today at his AFL-CIO rally,
You are the only folks keeping the barbarians from the gates.”

You misunderstood. I didn't say leaving Americans behind would be normal. Nor did I suggest that leaving anybody else behind would be normal.

I suggested that the victorious army whacking out some of the 'traitors' would be completely normal.

That which 'isn't' normal is allowing Americans to leave with their heads intact.

But we both know why that is happening don't we!
We've always known about Afghanistan's mineral wealth.. Until recently there wasn't a market and there was NO way to get the stuff to 'market.
Thus the fact that the British and/or the Soviets were there for other reasons.

Strategic real estate.

That's where the 'cabbage' comes in.

This shit has been going on for over a century, and there's no way America is any different.

How has the war President Barack Hussein Obama said we SHOULD have been fighting going? How is the Middle East going now that President Obama is President? Oh, Afghanistan just crossed 2,330 American fatalities. Seventy percent of whom died since President Obama took office.

And now the Obama administration TAKES CREDIT for the Iraq war…whew….

Israel began pushing to destroy Saddam in 1996 with Clean Break Strategy.. Then the Brits with Operation Mass Appeal, Then the PNAC dual citizen signatories in the PNAC letter to Clinton.. and then Dubya...

Error upon blunder. Arabs, oilmen, diplomats and historians knew it was a lie.

Then we hanged Saddam for doing what Churchill had done in 1920.. and we sold Saddam the gas.

I suggested that the victorious army whacking out some of the 'traitors' would be completely normal.

That which 'isn't' normal is allowing Americans to leave with their heads intact.

But we both know why that is happening don't we!

Thus the fact that the British and/or the Soviets were there for other reasons.

Strategic real estate.

That's where the 'cabbage' comes in.

This shit has been going on for over a century, and there's no way America is any different.
Access limitations to Afghanistan completely devalue it's strategic value to the US. Especially for the paltry amount of resources available.

I just know Dubya wasn't an oil man.. He must have been drinking and snorting coke to be so GD wrong and stupid about Iraq, The moron could have had it all for 20 billion and NO war..
Don't suggest that Dubya and his accomplices didn't know that there were no WMD's in Iraq. They did and you'll never get any other story past me my friend.

And further to the point, the money spent on Iraq wasn't wasted money in the larger scheme of things. We all know of the PNAC agenda and we know that Iran is still not off the US hitlist.

Although I would say that the US taking Iran is not a practical goal any longer. At least not in terms of direct military aggression. More practical would be fomenting more war with the aid of Saudi.
