China is requiring automakers (making over 30,000 cars per year) to make zero- and low-emission vehicles- of at least 10 percent starting in 2019, rising to 12 percent in 2020.

Car makers that do not meet those targets must buy credits or face fines.
The targets look achievable for the industry as a whole, McKerracher said. Considering the credit structure, 12 percent in 2020 would translate to about 4 percent to 5 percent of actual vehicle sales.

A spokeswoman for France’s PSA Group said the delay was good news but that the company was fully prepared to meet the quotas regardless. Obtaining an energy score of at least 10 percent in 2019 can be achieved if 2.5 percent of PSA’s Chinese production is electric.

This is something we should require!

Good thing China has lots and lots of that unclean coal to burn in their dirty generator plants with no restrictions on air pollution to make all the electricity those cars will need!

My take on it too. Seeing as how 73% of their domestic electricity production comes from coal-fired plants, they'll need to ramp up their production of coal. Everything in this world is "give and take". You can't get something in one aspect without giving something in another.

China Aims to Spend at Least $360 Billion on Renewable Energy by 2020

China intends to spend more than $360 billion through 2020 on renewable power sources like solar and wind, the government’s energy agency said on Thursday.

The country’s National Energy Administration laid out a plan to dominate one of the world’s fastest-growing industries, just at a time when the United States is set to take the opposite tack as Donald J. Trump, a climate-change doubter, prepares to assume the presidency.

The agency said in a statement that China would create more than 13 million jobs in the renewable energy sector by 2020, curb the growth of greenhouse gasses that contribute to global warming and reduce the amount of soot that in recent days has blanketed Beijing and other Chinese cities in a noxious cloud of smog.

Yes, China has an extreme problem of air pollution. They are trying to remedy that while at the same time maintaining a rising standard of living for the people of China.

Don't forget the pollution from mining all of the lead, lithium and nerve gas agents (depending on the technology) and other highly toxic agents to make all those batteries, all the poisonous byproducts and the waste from the manufacturing pouring into the landfills.

Anyone with a smattering of scientific knowledge knows that electric cars are shit. The future lies in hydrogen fuel cells. Just a few more years before the free market (not government) brings down the cost and makes them affordable to all.

Just think: If Trump can get all of these old, highly one-sided trade agreements with China fixed, then China would be buying everything HERE instead of us there, and WE would have 360 billion to invest in renewable energy!

This isn't a sign of progress by China, the biggest polluters in the world (I know how the Left likes to celebrate ANYONE BUT AMERICA), it is just one more measure of the stupidity of past administrations and the kinds of idiotic trade deals they put together screwing us in favor of other countries.

LOL 200,000 Tesla's sold this year. Many other companies jumping in on the EV market. 400,000 people waiting in line for their Tesla 3. Toob, you are funny. How many Hydrogen cars sold this year? And Tesla just set a new standard with a semi with 500 miles range pulling an 80,000 lb load. And a roadster super sports car that has over a 600 mile range, and can beat any other street car made.

Why don't you just tell us how polluting lithium mining is? LOL God you freaks are ignorant.

Communist countries often brag about what they are going to do.
Seldom does it ever get done!
China was the only nation in the world that had carried out large and complicated railway projects over the past decade, and some of the projects were in harsh environments such as the high-altitude Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and in bitterly cold Northeast China, testifying to the country’s strong capability in this field, he said.

In addition, Wang said, China used a flexible approach toward funding co-operative programmes, encouraging foreign nations with financial difficulties to repay their share of the investment with local resources.

The previous success of Chinese railway companies will help them obtain contracts for high-speed railway projects in the US and Brazil in the near future, according to Feng Hao, a transportation researcher with China’s National Development and Reform Commission.

By the end of last year, the nation had built a high-speed rail network of more than 16,000 kilometres, far exceeding that in any other country and larger than the high-speed rail network in the entire European Union, official statistics show.

China's high-speed rail network is on the global fast track

China is planning to build a high speed rail from China to Europe. Along the old silk road. They already have a freight line on that route now, delivering goods to Europe and importing goods from Europe.

The only thing that the treasonous fat senile old orange clown will fix is prices for medical service in this nation so that the poor and middle class will once again be facing bankruptcy if they require major medical procedures or pharmaceuticals.

The GOP, the party of Grand Old Perverts, has turned thumbs down on every infrastructure project in this nation. They won't even approve the money to maintain the existing infrastructure.

You shouldn't be so happy. The new tax plan will do away with the $7,500 federal income-tax credit for electric vehicles. Many states are levying hefty taxes on them too, because they don't pay their fair share of the gas taxes.

You do want everyone to pay their "fair share" of taxes, right? I seem to remember hearing that quite a bit from the left.

Yes, we have to pay for the roads. And everyone using those roads should pay for them. So, we need to work out a way that the people with EV's can pay as they go, without having a sudden lump sum at the end of the year. Many ways to do this, just a simple engineering problem. The tax credit can go away now. The EV's are going to make it on their own because they are better vehicles than ICE's.
