Children with liberal parents more likely to suffer mental health problems: Study

Really hit a nerve, eh?
No rebuttal to the facts eh?

You clearly have a deep emotional need to believe in the shit pseudoscience your side spews.

Why, exactly, do you feel such a need to believe it? Does it make you feel like a better cultist?

Oh, I see. It gives you the hate-fix that you crave. All of the conservatives here literally care nothing about the facts. Their posts on this thread demonstrate that conclusively. They just want to hate. They get a sick pervy thrill from hating, so they spend their days seeking out reasons to hate.

That's because on average conservative families tend to be more about rules, doing what's right, being responsible and strong, being punished for doing bad things, have god in their lives even if it's just a little and so on. Conservative households also tend to have a mother and a father. Boys are raised to be men, girls are raised to be women in conservative households.

Strong and moral people will raise strong and moral children.

Not to say every conservative family will raise good children, but I'd bet most of them do.

That's why people consistently rely more and more and more on rules and laws and government and technology to live their lives. Because every generation gets weaker and dumber. And the current young generation made a gigantic leap that direction by being raised to be pitiful excuses for men and women. They aren't equipped to deal with life so they need to avoid the real world

Children who grow up in politically liberal households are more likely to suffer mental health problems than their conservative peers, according to a new study.

An Institute for Family Studies-Gallup report found that "political ideology is one of the strongest predictors" of which caregiving styles a parent adopts, and conservative parents are associated with the best mental health outcomes for their children.

"Conservative and very conservative parents are the most likely to adopt the parenting practices associated with adolescent mental health," study author Jonathan Rothwell, who is also the principal economist at Gallup and nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, wrote. "Liberal parents score the lowest, even worse than very liberal parents, largely because they are the least likely to successfully discipline their children."

Conservative parents have several key distinctions in their relationships with their children that inform mental health outcomes, Rothwell explained, including being able to "effectively discipline their children, while also displaying affection and responding to their needs." The right-leaning parents also have better quality relationships with their children, "characterized by fewer arguments, more warmth, and a stronger bond."

Political ideology is just one predictive factor in the overarching conclusion of the study, which is that having high-quality relationships between children and their parents is the most important factor in achieving positive mental health outcomes.

The study comes as adolescent mental health has plummeted over the course of the last decade, a free fall marked by increased suicide, depression, and anxiety, among other problems.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics have offered recommendations like better funding for psychiatric services, the study notes the CDC's solutions "almost completely ignore the most important known determinant of youth mental health: parent-child relationships."

The best mental health results come from "warm, responsive, and rule-bound, disciplined parenting," Rothwell said. This style is otherwise known as "authoritative."

Negative parenting styles include "authoritarian," which is characterized by being "cold or harsh," and the "permissive" style, which lacks proper discipline.

Socioeconomic status did not appear to dictate results, which "may be shocking to many highly educated Americans who were taught to believe that socioeconomic status dictates everything good in life," the economist continued, adding, "Income doesn’t buy better parenting, and more highly educated parents do not score better, either."

My own theory is that liberal parents are far less likely to be religious or more likely to be agnostic or atheist and therefore don't give their children a sound foundation of faith and trust in God. Or they attend churches that are more woke activism than promoting a relationship with a higher power. And because any study comes up with trends more than absolutes, there will of course be anomalies and exceptions to that.

But when most children were attending faith based churches and knew God was welcome at school and most other places and were encouraged to pray together in stressful situations, we had a whole lot fewer mental problems.

A biased group presenting a biased view of data. Easy to do, since their intended audience isn't the brain trust of America.

In reality, liberal parents tend to be more educated and wealthy than right wing parents. They and their children tend to get better care because they have both more access and better understanding.

So, naturally, they get more and better diagnoses of their health problems, mental or otherwise.

This same correlation can be found with autism.

But the right wing propaganda group Institute for Family Studies isnt going to tell you that.

People that ID as liberal tend to have far more mental health issues. They are also far more selfish

Which is because they tend to be more educated and more successful.

If you would like to keep talking in order to prove that point, be my guest.
They are more educated and “successful” because they have mental health problems?

Who’s defining “success”?

And it’s clear from your post you don’t realize that more educated doesn’t translate to more intelligent

This is the ceiling of wit and class that one would expect to find more among the lower educated. Or right wingers. Somewhat interchangeable terms, in this context.

*** Liberal parents tell their children how sweet and lovely certain "marginalized" groups are.

*** Then their kids go out into the real world and quickly learn that a lot of those "marginalized" groups are far from being sweet and lovely.

*** No wonder those kids with liberal parents are mentally confused!
they'd be better off orphans like oliver twist

Liberal parents tend to end up with conservative kids, and vice versa. Something about teenage wasteland.

Great parenting comes from the center. They know how to adapt. The fringes can't cope.
