If Rahm has any foot movement.

If not, it's a first round tap out by body crush.

Chicago teachers to go on strike after talks with Rahm Emanuel fail

1. Chicago teachers strike with an impasse against Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of Chicago.

2. The school district was facing a $700 million deficit.

3. The latest offer has been a 16% raise and an evaluation tied to student standardized test scores, but teachers aren’t having any part of it. They say that would cost 6,000 teacher jobs.

Who these days is seeing a 16% raise? Teachers have to be accountable for their performance, but the devil is in the details. Scores should only count from spring to spring scores, (No pre and post scores) and only students without attendance problems should be included in the evaluation. It should be on growth of performance and not meeting the standards of the grade. (one month growth for each month in school would be considered average)

So, the teachers are afraid that once they realize there are incompetent teachers in the system, the incompetent ones will get canned. Good. Incompetent teachers should be canned.

I'm counting 4 out of 5 teachers that are really packing the pounds!
These are "Educators"???

That's racist.

somehow,,,, it just is

The package, which would cost $400 million, keeps increases for experience and credentials with some modifications.
Vitale said the contract amounted to a 16 percent raise over four years for the average teacher when factoring other increases. And the raises could not be rescinded for lack of funds — which is what happened this past school year, angering teachers and helping to set the stage for Monday’s strike. Chicago teachers strike for first time in 25 years; contingency sites ready, charters remain open - Chicago Sun-Times

Maybe the kids are better off without being brainwashed another day by ungrateful union pipsqueaks who pass on the "we get something good, everybody else, too bad it causes you bankruptcy, who cares."

it is funny

The union feeds the dem machine, the machine pretends to draw a line in the sand, then concedes, for the children, the unions feed the dem machine, the state and it's taxpayers take it in the ass.

And they wonder why all the states ringing them are red or going red, and succeeding.

Unions sell the idea that everyone benefits when they benefit. They contribute to pols, who back them. The taxpayer inevitably picks up the bill. I saw an article recently that some firemen in CA aren't quite getting the respect they're used to. Seems some people somewhere are finally wising up that unions are bankrupting municipalities and states.

Scary classrooms!
Sure are. Can you imagine sending your kid to a classroom to be taught by someone who decided $59,000 wasn't good enough for an annual stipend in this economy where we have a president who just ousted tens of thousands from private enterprise jobs?

What's he trying to pull?

Don't teachers do math any more? Their district in Chicago is already $600 million in the hole. They should be volunteering for pay cuts to make sure the system doesn't go bankrupt.

What a bunch of piggies at the trough. While misfortune looms for the area, teachers want to enjoy wealth while others hit rock bottom.

small correction;

It's not $59k a year, it's $59k for 9 months.

Why are the citizens of Chicago such fucking crybabies?

So what that the average teacher earns double what the average Chicago resident make. Suck it the fuck up! The teacher are in a Union you lazy fuckwads! They deserve your money!

Chicago citizens need to shut the fuck up and pay up!

it appears that for teachers on a certain track there is only 1 month of for the summer, however there is a fall break, a winter break, a spring break, and a holiday break of 1-2 weeks, so total time off plus the 1 month is about 2.5 months. For the second track it does appear to be 2 months of summer, and 1 less week of breaks, so again around 2.5-3 months off. You also have to count the fact they get alot of 1 day holidays most people dont get anymore.

A 16% raise in this economy? Now we know who the fuck is causing bankruptices in our AMerican cities. It's time for some union busting if you ask me.
