This is a media eco-activism vignette inspired by Thank You for Smoking.

Cheers,

Humanity was united in the concern for eco-system degradation that came after the Industrial Revolution. Eco-activists were conscious of the need to talk about Earth's ecological carrying capacities and wondered how mass commerce and traffic and industry were being 'absorbed' by Earth's eco-systems and if unnatural climate change could be suddenly looming. Earth Day became the rallying cry for teachers across America trying to educate youngsters about the value of creative expressions regarding the sacredness of Earth's eco-systems and the political need to protect Mother Nature.

Art students at prestigious schools such as Georgetown and Yale were making sculptures of Mother Nature, translations of how her grace and beauty should be 'invoked' for consciousness regarding the value of defending Earth's vulnerabilities and safeguarding forests and waters and national parks from the threat of over-industrialization. Some of these Mother Nature sculptures even won important awards, drawing the attention of media-personalities and American celebrities such as Don Imus (famous radio talk-show DJ), Kate Hudson (Hollywood actress and co-owner of the hip fitness-gear company Fabletics), and Sheryl Crow (iconic female American rock-musician who had already made guest appearances at Ivy League schools like Dartmouth College)!

Hudson, in particular, was very interested in coordinating the activities of her fitness-gear company Fabletics with some of the eco-work of the environmentalism-activism organization the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (managed by Hollywood actor/celebrity Leo DiCaprio). Hudson wanted to feature some of her fitness-gear clothing on DiCaprio's website so the eco-activist actor could feature such 'lifestyle-gear' as eco-consciousness considerable 'outfits.' After all, defending Mother Nature required adequate 'style and preparation.' It was a cool little plan, and it made Hudson a 15-minute 'celebrity' in the media field of environmentalism-activism. What Hudson did not realize was that DiCaprio was dating Sheryl Crow who was jealous of Hudson's newfound eco-activism work with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation!

Leo decided to sponsor a month-long drive-in series of films right outside Los Angeles. The films would spotlight only eco-activism related issues and/or environmentalism politics. The films included FernGully: The Last Rainforest, The Emerald Forest, Bio-Dome, and Erin Brockovich. DiCaprio and Crow made a guest-appearance at one of the drive-in showings so they could provide the press with some nifty celebrity-stories regarding Americans coming together to celebrate modern eco-consciousness 'activity.' Kate Hudson decided to use the positive press generated by DiCaprio's eco-film drive-in series to create a special line of night-time fitness-gear fashions (things you could wear to go jogging after sunset right before strolling into a drive-in film!).

Ironically, this new Fabletics campaign drew Crow and Hudson more together, and suddenly, the two became friends! Leo was very happy, since he considered Kate his new 'celebrity eco-activism peer' and Crow his 'eco-consciousness motivated girlfriend.' Kate and Sheryl decided to shop together one day (on Rodeo Drive) for eco-savvy clothing for Leo. Leo loved his new gifts from his 'two ladies' and decided to wear them to a special press-conference regarding a new Antarctica project for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. It seemed that eco-consciousness was creating all kinds of interesting 'social activity' in the American landscape. What would commerce-focused and 'media-mechanic' U.S. President Donald Trump say?

Well, First Lady Melania Trump loved all of this 'eco-stuff' and decided to state in the press that Earth Day should be a day for youngsters and kids interested in eco-activism, while Arbor Day should be the rallying cry for adults who wanted to inspire kids with meaningful political gestures/statements. Melania gave a special interview for TIME magazine so she could voice this opinion, and a television-programmer working for Ted Turner read it and decided to plan an Earth Day and Arbor Day series of political cartoons starring Charlie Brown (for kids and adults!). President Trump simply wondered if 'eco-consciousness' was profitable to the big-time businessman!
