California Worst State for Retirees

Subtract military spending in sparsely populated red states. You figures are skewed. This bullshit fallacy has be promoted by liberals for years.

Yeah, Base Realignment and Closure Act took care of all the military spending in blue states and guess what? The DoD has now decided that they need to REBUILD some of those closed bases out here, in response to Kim Jong Un, so guess whose turn it will be to cry?
Subtract military spending? You're still dependent on blue state generosity, like for instance every single time you get flooded, or wiped out by hurricanes, or tornadoes.

I lived in North Texas for ten years, so your game isn't working.

South was hit hard as well with base closures. Reagan and Bush I just had to win that Cold War...dammit. Democrats thought the division of Europe was permanent. Reagan saw writing on the wall for Soviet State.

Bull-fucking-shit...absolute bullshit.
I REWIRED Carswell Joint AFB while I lived there.
Again, lying and flooding the board with posts isn't going to win you the argument.

That does not in any way change the fact that California, and most blue states GIVE OUT more than they receive. Of COURSE California takes IN the most, it is the most populous state, 40 million people. But we pay OUT more in taxes and get less BACK in return.
Which is why businesses are leaving California for good states like Texas.

So we lost Cold War? I served in combat arms in both Army and Marines for most of 1980’s and the 1990’s. Served in combat. You pulled wire on an Air Force base. Real good. What was your point there?

Figures from the state Employment Development Department show that California led the nation in year-over-year growth in June with 461,100 jobs added — outpacing Florida’s new 244,500 jobs and Texas, which added 171,100.

Employment is at-will. They should be getting unemployment compensation at one dollar an hour less than the minimum wage, if they want to explore opportunities in the market place.

Promoting the general welfare should be to concentrate wealth to discover cures for those afflictions that cost us the most.

I am not quite that liberal. They should simply be receiving subsidized treatment and given a chance at employment at a living wage. Ball is in their court after that.

I was homeless for a short period in Minneapolis in the 70's.
Day labor saved my bacon.
If we get rid of the private prison industry, a lot of those old jobs now being done by prisoners would be available for homeless people, like they were when MY luck was down.

Red states support the nation...blue states are the sponges.

It helps if you read the, rest of the story:

California, the most populous state in the country, receives the largest share — more than a third of a trillion dollars. However, when accounting for population and the amount states pay in federal taxes, the breakdown looks very different.

California is a donor State, regardless of how much we receive in federal tax monies.

Capitalism has a natural rate of unemployment for the capital benefit of Capitalists, not labor. A fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage benefits labor more; and, unemployment compensation is merely simpler and more cost effective; if a person needs more help than that, they can simply ask for at the unemployment counter and be directed to more general, welfare entitlements.

I guess what I am trying to say is, poverty sucks, and it SHOULD suck, but it should not be a dead end or a death sentence. We cannot eliminate ALL poverty or ALL homelessness but the record amounts of both are an indicator that we need to make constructive adjustments by offering more opportunities to those most in need, many of whom would gladly take it.

There are BUMS and then there are the WORKING poor and WORKING homeless.
These days, the bums are in the minority because most of the homeless in California, used to have homes, and their JOBS used to be enough to make ends meet.

We can help the working poor and help the working homeless, it can be done.

Only national socialists believe we should use capitalism to punish.

Liberal socialists may believe in the rule of law and the concept of equality; we have a federal doctrine and State laws regarding the concept of employment at will.

The right wing has a problem with it, because the poor may benefit.

I'm a liberal but not really a socialist, but I know that (A) it is possible to create housing opportunities, and gainful employment much more than we're doing now, and (B) the Right needs the homeless to scare the shit out of their constituents.
Why, look at the vitriol coming from people like Bush92...that guy is scared shitless.
It's easy to be a conservative until you need help.

PS: What you call, "national socialism" is really fascism. Hitler only coined the term because it was a useful marketing ploy to draw in the labor unions, which he then destroyed.
Nazis are no more "socialist" than North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is "democratic".

It's good that you think that.
You're helping to alleviate our traffic congestion, (sign of a healthy economy) and you're also helping to reduce the number of Right Wing fanatics in our midst out here, which suits us just fine.

PS: I don't live in San Francisco, never have...been there for work but I live in Los Angeles.
