CA Plan to kill itself off

The California Air Resources Board, despite comments that it should reconsider amendments to its AB32 Scoping Plan on cutting carbon dioxide emissions, has gone ahead and approved them unanimously. What that means is CARB has rubber-stamped a plan to place the state on a path to cut carbon dioxide emissions in the state to 80 percent below 1990 levels, by mid-century.

Currently in court, expect exodus to become a stampede if upheld.

I'll promise anything by mid-century. I'll be dead by then, as will all the people who promoted this commitment.

Still, I think it's reasonable to expect that new technology over the next 35 years will facilitate significant, relatively painless reductions in CO2. A dynamic, capable, engaged President could promote a major revitalization of nuclear power for electricity generation, which could shut down coal plants, one for one. Most of the concerns about nuke power are irrational or ignorant or both.
