Sadly, a lot of people believe the lies that come out of Washington in the news releases. "Housing UP! Building Permits UP!"

Folks, they are not up. They are still down. The majority of people in the building industry are still out of work or only able to find part time work.

Obama issues building permits?

Sadly, a lot of people believe the lies that come out of Washington in the news releases. "Housing UP! Building Permits UP!"

Folks, they are not up. They are still down. The majority of people in the building industry are still out of work or only able to find part time work.
What's supposed to be a "V" shaped recovery has turned out to be more like an "L" shaped recovery.

Sadly, a lot of people believe the lies that come out of Washington in the news releases. "Housing UP! Building Permits UP!".

Which news release said that? I'm looking at the Census news release on housing permits and building starts and it says they're all down. Well, privately owned housing starts were up from December, but the news release points out that that's still below the Jan 2010 numbers. Please give a link to the news release that says everythings up or tries to paint a rosy picture.

News release residential building Feb 16 2011
BUILDING PERMITS
Privately-owned housing units authorized by building permits in January were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 562,000. This is 10.4 percent (±1.8%) below the revised December rate of 627,000 and is 10.7 percent (±1.2%) below the January 2010 estimate of 629,000.
Single-family authorizations in January were at a rate of 421,000; this is 4.8 percent (±2.3%) below the revised December figure of 442,000.

HOUSING STARTS
Privately-owned housing starts in January were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 596,000. This is 14.6 percent (±15.7%)* above the revised December estimate of 520,000, but is 2.6 percent (±9.8%)* below the January 2010 rate of 612,000.
Single-family housing starts in January were at a rate of 413,000; this is 1.0 percent (±8.6%)* below the revised December figure of 417,000.

HOUSING COMPLETIONS
Privately-owned housing completions in January were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 512,000. This is 9.5 percent (±6.3%) below the revised December estimate of 566,000 and is 22.7 percent (±8.3%) below the January 2010 rate of 662,000.
Single-family housing completions in January were at a rate of 428,000; this is 7.0 percent (±7.0%)* below the revised December rate of 460,000.

Pretty sad, we lost all our industry and now all we can do is build a few houses and hope that replaces our lost industry, seems like one would have to be pretty naive to beleive everything is based on housing.

Pinko, you are back to pretending that you are crazy again. I have posted the headlines on numerous occasions. They say one thing, but the reality is always the opposite. I am not going to go back and list the headlines all over again because you were too lazy to read.

Google them yourself. YOu have to be the world's greatest shithead and failed Government shill I have ever seen. Give it up. NObody believes your lies and the administration lies. We are in a Depression with well over 30 million unemployed.

THAT IS THE REALITY, no matter how many lies you make up.

Which is it? Headlines or news releases?

You wrote "Sadly, a lot of people believe the lies that come out of Washington in the news releases. "Housing UP! Building Permits UP!"" so, silly me, I thought you meant news releases. Here are the Census News Releases for Building Permits and Housing Starts and they don't support your claim. Last few months they all say "Down," and on the few occasions when they have been up from the previous month, it's pointed out that they're down from the previous year.

Now if your beef is with what the media says....well, that's hardly GOVERNMENT lies, is it?
