Britain's Last Gasp

Lol! I'd be concerned If I thought you knew what you were talking about.

You're talking shit about his country and you tell him to STFU?!?

God, what a maroon!:lol::lol:

The irony is rich, isn't it?

British Progressive have pushed Britain to the brink of extinction. Years of failed economic and social policies have lead to a Balkanized country with a $245 BILLION deficit this year and a Prime Minister calling a questioner a "Bigoted woman" for daring to ask about "All these Eastern European what are coming in"

Planned economies, welfare/warfare states will not survive...US next?

.

The rhetoric on here is ridiculous.

Greece has been in default for 105 of the last 200 years, and NOW they are going to collapse? Why didn't Greece collapse the last time the IMF was called in, you know, 30 years ago?

FFS, Spain has been around for centuries and has defaulted on its debt something like 12 times. France has defaulted eight times. Even England has defaulted a couple of times. The idea that a country is going to collapse because its going to stiff its bondholders shows a stunning ignorance of global history.

We could have a serious depression, no doubt about it, but these countries will be around long after we're all dead.

Greek Bailout Already Making Situation Worse

Greece's strong and ancient socialist institutions can only respond to market discipline with violence. From the London Times:

May Day protests in Greece turned violent yesterday as youths in gas masks and hoods set fire to vehicles, smashed shop fronts and threw molotov cocktails and rocks at police in an explosion of fury over austerity measures they claim will hurt only the poor.

Tourists were cut off from their hotels as thousands of communists, civil servants and private-sector workers converged on a main square in Athens to vent their rage at the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“No to the IMF’s junta,” they chanted as a youth in a black hood produced a hammer to try to smash windows of the luxury Grande Bretagne hotel.

Another painted anti-capitalist slogans on the facade, and demonstrators intervened to prevent him from spraying an Australian woman with paint as she tried to get back into the hotel. Japanese tourists stood taking photographs of the mayhem with mobile phones before being forced to retreat, coughing and sneezing, under a cloud of tear gas."

Greece is a microcosm of larger things if we continue on the course Obama and his Statist pals want to persue.

I agree. The situation is untenable. But let's keep things in perspective.

That's just it...isn't it? It's gotten to the point to where they DO need a bailout. It's a microcosm of things to come if the Socialist path is continued to be trod upon.

Get used to it.

Yup, major upheavals can cause people to react irrationally, even violently. Kinda reminds me of a certain group of people in this country after the Prez got elected.

They don't need a bailout. They want a bailout, and on their terms. They don't want to take the medicine they need to take, and the EU doesn't want a member to leave the eurozone, although that is probably what will eventually happen.

The last time Greece received a bailout from the IMF, the terms for the loan were harsher than on offer now.

This isn't about the IMF or a bailout. It is about bondholders who continue to lend to a country that has been in default for half the time over the past two centuries. Greece is going to get bailed out because between French and German banks have €120 billion exposure to Greece.

If Greece leaves the EU, wouldn't they need to drop the Euro too? I'm not sure. But if that's the case, they'd probably turn into the Continent's version of Zimbabwe and what they're going through now would be nothing compared to the problems of creating a fiat with no confidence behind it.

You should seriously look into it.

Frankie (an American) is right where he ought to be, worrying about the effects YOUR country's problems might have on the US, as well as many other countries.

Now move along, little doggie!

and Americas problems will not affect GB and the rest of the world?......you know Jeny...there are people from all over the world in here....Colin has never told anyone to to go to another board just because he did not like what the poster said....we had our two English residents tell Frank that he is wrong about what is going on over there....who should i believe....Cali and Colin or Frank....no offence to Frank ...but i will go with those who are there....

Leaving the eurozone is enormously problematic for a number of reasons, but it currently is not tenable as is. The wouldn't leave the EU. Several countries are part of the EU and don't use the euro.

The wouldn't become Zimbabwe but the new drachma wouldn't have much confidence.

Yeah, exactly. If this is a US Message Board, then why is there a thread about the UK? If British people shouldn't participate in this forum--they should--then why start a thread about British politics? Seems hypocritical to start a thread about UK politics and then tell a UK citizen they shouldn't be participating.

We're talking about Frank here. Hypocrisy and lack of logic are SOP in his threads.

I'll make a note to Gunny, CW, and DanK to get rid of all of the forums about politics/other happenings in other countries in the world since Crude Frank and JenyE don't think anyone but AMERICANS should post here.

Funny, that.

A BRIT was trying to run an AMERICAN off of this message board. Ostensibly, this is an AMERICAN message board (although judging by this asshat moderator's reaction), it is A-OK for a fucking Brit to run off Americans.

Colin tried to run an American off the UNITED STATES message board and you attack US for pointing out the error of his ways?

Go fucking figure. Stupid pantywaist lib. Go join the fucking Pom yourself. Asshat. :eusa_doh:

I think you'll be the next mod, with your class and style, who wouldn't want you. Then, maybe you could become the administrator, then the owner, and make it the Good Ole US of A Message Board-NO DAMN FOREIGNERS ALLOWED!
