My guess would be she wanted to have a thorough investigation into his earnings. I'm not sure about Alaskan law but here in Texas there is no statute of limitiations on which one can file for back child support.

Alaska will hang him up by the balls for child support.

However, in most states, you cannot file for back child support, unless you established a child support order prior to the months you are requesting back child support FOR.

Sometimes it takes months for paternity information to come in. If he denied paternity, was difficult to serve, if she expected him to pay and was reluctant to pursue it, then those are all valid reasons for putting off filing for child support.

Also, women who go on public assistance are encouraged (even compelled) to pursue child support. Even if they don't want support, the state will pursue on their own to try to recapture some or all of the money the state is shelling out for the kid. The only way to stop the state in this instant is to file an affidavit of harm, where the custodial parent states that they fear for the safety of themselves or the child if the state pursues child support.

My guess is that Levi & the Palins had a verbal or informal agreement that he would pay what he could. But he isn't, so now they are pursing it through the courts.

I work in the Court system for the Sheriffs Dept down here in Florida and believe me Levi wouldn't be the first parent with limited access to his or her child. His visitation would depend on what both he and Bristol tell the Judge. Just because Bristol asks for something doesn't mean she will get it. Same applies for Levi. The final decision is up the the Judge. Since none of us were privvy to what went on. Who knows what was said. Either way. Levi still needs to support his son.
