New Details on Benghazi
Nov 1, 2012 4:19 PM EDT
Two U.S. officials tell Eli Lake that the State Department never requested military backup the night of the attack.

On the night of the 9/11 anniversary assault at the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, the Americans defending the compound and a nearby CIA annex were severely outmanned. Nonetheless, the State Department never requested military backup that evening, two senior U.S. officials familiar with the details of military planning tell The Daily Beast.
In its seventh week, discussion about what happened in Benghazi has begun to focus on why military teams in the region did not respond to the assault on the U.S. mission and the nearby CIA annex. The only security backup that did arrive that evening were former special-operations soldiers under the command of the CIA—one from the nearby annex and another Quick Reaction Force from Tripoli. On Friday, Fox News reported that requests from CIA officers for air support on the evening of the attacks were rejected. (The Daily Beast was not able to confirm that those requests were made, though no U.S. official contacted for this story directly refuted the claim either.)

Seeing as how it will probably be about a year or so before all the facts are compiled and published, I'd say you are going to have a long wait.

Breaking bulletins with doomsday music and adrenaline-powered pronouncements about the latest third person opinion is just more BULLSHIT on the misdirection pile.

Have fun with that, as long as you don't mind sacrificing any integrity you may have.

Sources, emails point to communication breakdown in Obama administration during Libya attack

That team, these counterterrorism officials argue, could have helped the FBI gain access to the site in Benghazi faster. It ultimately took the FBI 24 days.
"The response process was isolated at the most senior level," according to one intelligence source. "Counterterrorism professionals were not consulted and a decision was taken to send the FBI on its own without the enablers that would have allowed its agents to gain access to the site in Benghazi in a timely manner." The FBI team did not get on the ground in Benghazi for several weeks after the attack and at that point any "evidence" had been rifled through by looters and journalists.
"A better response approach could have certainly allowed the FBI to access the site much sooner than the 24 days it would eventually take," a source in the counterterrorism community said.
Further, the Counterterrorism Security Group, or CSG, was never asked to meet that night or in subsequent days, according to two separate counterterrorism officials, as first reported by CBS News. The CSG is composed of experts on terrorism from across government agencies and makes recommendations to the deputies who assist the president's Cabinet in formulating a response to crises involving terrorism.

It's a sad state of affairs if it takes a year to find out information that should be easily available. This is not rocket science and it's not a situation where we're trying to get information from other countries. We are simply asking our government what they were doing. We're not yet asking who is responsible or things that our government can't know. We're asking who in OUR government did what. This is not information that they don't have or don't know. People do wrong to give them a pass on this type of incompetence.

What the hell is wrong with you? :eusa_sick: How can ANYBODY, no matter how far they've got their heads up Barack Obama's backside not be offended at the senseless deaths of these four Americans? They didn't have to die! They shouldn't have died.

At every step of the way, this administration REFUSED to do the right thing. There was all kinds of warning that the situation on the ground had deteriorated, but instead of putting more security in, they took some away. It was the anniversary of 9/11, but instead of having our forces at alert status, they weren't at the ready. When the attack commenced, they sent no help. And when it was over, they deflected to the ridiculous video meme.

It's been over SEVEN WEEKS. There's no excuse for the way they've continued to stonewall on what really happened in Benghazi. Clearly, they're kicking the can down the road in order to try and fool as many voters as they can ahead of this election. And frankly, American voters DESERVE full disclosure as it pertains to Barack Obama's competence. He fucked this thing up at every step of the way, and not only did four Americans pay with their lives, we've yet to see the effects on the region after having allowed a SUCCESSFUL 9/11 attack. This has emboldened our enemies and will quite likely serve to further destabilize Libya.

Looks like the fucking liars at Fox News have been exposed for what they really are... FUCKING LIARS! :eusa_clap:

"There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support," said the official. The official's comments appeared to be a direct rebuttal of a Fox News report that CIA teams on the ground had been told by superior officers to "stand down" from providing security support to the consulate.

Let me ask you this...if there were protests outside of an embassy here, would China or Russia have your blessing to send in their troops and/or warplanes?

Oh... and while we're on the topic of Breaking Benghazi News... how is it that Lindsey Graham can get us access to the terrorist held in Tunesia, but Barack Obama couldn't???

As you know, a Tunisian man was seen on the Consulate videotape the day of the attack. He was arrested a short time later in Turkey at their airport as he tried to pass through with false documents. The Turkish authorities turned the man over to Tunisia (not the USA for questioning) and the Tunisian government has not let our FBI interview him. The US has not explained why they could not get access to interview this man.

About 3 nights ago, Senator Lindsey Graham learned of the foregoing and was outraged that we had not interviewed this man. He got to work writing a letter and making calls.

No. YOU don't care. And the United States of America has not just recently seen a civil war and is not in a state of unrest. We're fully capable of responding to any threat posed to a foreign embassy. You're comparing apples to dump trucks.

We should've pulled those people out of there after the British ambassador was nearly assassinated. The idiots in Washington keep telling us that this is dangerous work.. and to some extent that's true. But when the host country CANNOT protect your diplomats, you pull them out. It's about acceptable risks. And what we saw prior to the Benghazi attack was not in any way, shape, or form "acceptable".

No one cares?? Of course SHE doesn't care. Neither do any of the other Barry supporters.

All they care about is getting that fuck in for another four years.

Doesn't matter that three of those men could have been saved had Barry given the order.

It also doesn't matter that Barry sent his minions out to lie about a spontaneous demonstration.

Lies only count if its Bush or the Reps.

Nobody cares, huh?
Here's an editorial yesterday from The Las Vegas Review-Journal

Benghazi blunder: Obama unworthy commander-in-chief

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in a well-planned military assault on their diplomatic mission in Benghazi seven weeks ago, the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. So why are details surfacing, piecemeal, only now?

The Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. It has spent the past seven weeks stretching the story out, engaging in misdirection and deception involving supposed indigenous outrage over an obscure anti-Muslim video, confident that with the aid of a docile press corps this infamous climax to four years of misguided foreign policy can be swept under the rug, at least until after Tuesday's election.

This was scathing. It even goes on to criticize Obama for his visit to... Las Vegas... on 9/12.

People ARE paying attention.

Ahh and how would you feel if you were Russia or China about our sending the US military into their embassies or consulates?

Your cartoonish take on the world is great for a 2nd grader which is about the level of education you're exhibiting.

Only right wing loons care. It's just like Fast and Furious...remember how that was going to bring down the administration? No? Neither do I

Ben Ghazzi is NOT a huge election issue.

It will be old news in a little while, just as FAUX and Furious is.

Why?

“(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place,” Panetta told Pentagon reporters. “And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

Again... apples and dump trucks. Both Russia and China are fully capable of protecting our diplomatic personnel within their borders.

And you've got the utter gall to accuse anybody else of having a "cartoonish take on the world"? That would be funny if your lack of interest in what was CLEARLY a preventable tragedy weren't so sick and twisted and utterly devoid of human compassion.

You and I can disagree on whether this is a huge campaign issue, although I will say, if it's not, it should be. Regardless of whether Obama can squeak a re-election by or not, this incident shouldn't be swept under the rug. How insane was it to turn American security over to the Libyans? Is this the new policy for all of our embassies and consulates? Is our government suddenly NOT answerable to the people? It's been almost 8 weeks and the American people are being told by our government that they don't yet know what happened. Obama is lying to our faces telling us that he's giving us information as it's come in and yet those desperate to protect their own future security are leaking this information out drop by drop showing us the lie.

When we started dropping bombs in Libya to oust Gadaffi, we never bothered to figure out who we were helping and now we've turned American security over to those same unknown people.

Sticky or not sticky, this thread will serve as a posting place for two types of people:

Those who believe our President should actually strive to protect our people...and not LIE about what they know about things that could be interpreted as mistakes on the President's part.

Those that would kiss Obama's ass no matter what he did or lied about.

It is that simple.

Obama should be immediately impeached and kicked out of the White House!
