FBI had been notified back in Sept of the YouTube video, but said they couldn't do anything about it because it didn't give enough personal information for them to find him..........but whatever happened to searching for an IP address to find someone? It should have given them enough info to narrow their search

An IP address does not tell you who the person is...and you need a legal search warrant in order for the internet providers to give you that personal information.....you have to have probable cause to get one and the standards are high.... is what I understand of it...

That's just it.........FBI and local cops both failed to follow up on the reports. FBI knew of his YouTube video back in September that claimed he wanted to be a professional school shooter.......which maybe wasn't enough to go on for a warrant but should have put him on a watch list anyway. Then in January they were notified Cruz had weapons, his erratic behavior, making threats against the school, etc. Not to mention those 39 visits to his home by the local cops.

There was plenty enough information for probable cause and neither agency did anything about it

The warning the FBI got in January was very specific. They could have
confronted that kid and they could have watched that kid. They could
have asked for him to be tested.

They didn't do anything. If they would have just notified the locals, then
the locals would compare that to the previous calls they had received over
the years and both LE groups could have done something.

"If you see something...say something" doesn't mean shit if LE isn't
going to do anything.
