House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Sunday that he would call the House back into session if President Barack Obama asked for war authorization for the military campaign against the Islamic State, also called ISIS.

"I'd bring the Congress back," Boehner said on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos.

"At the end of the day, I think it's going to take more than airstrikes to drive them out of there," Boehner said Sunday. "At some point, somebody's boots have to be on the ground."

Asked if those boots had to be American, Boehner said, "We have no choice."

Personally, I don't want American combat troop boots on the ground in Iraq. How would Boehner pay for another ground war in Iraq? I doubt he would request any offsets.

The simple fact is he is Boehner is right airstrikes can halt the ISIS advance and hold the line but they won't drive them out of the area's they now control. So it comes down to this if you want to drive them out you are going to have to put in ground troops half measures won't work you either need to go all in or don't go at all.

What about Iraqi boots on the ground? You know, the ones Bush and Cheney trained.

Boehner has a better grasp of military operations than Obama, who is personally leading the campaign. How pathetic is that?

Would those be the same boots that the military told Obama that needed 20 to 25 thousand force to support them because they weren't ready yet? What about boots in Syria is that going to be the free Syrian army that Obama did not want to arm and train for two years and just last month he called doctors, dentist, and pharmacist and said arming and training would be a fantasy?

Boehner has the extra advantage of never having to put his money where his mouth is, a tight fit, since his foot is usually firmly lodged there.

If the choices are to go all in or don't go at all, the choice is simple...... Don't Go At All!
Not our fight, not our problem and definitely not worth one American Life.

Fair enough I just hope everyone no matter which way they feel is prepared to deal with consequences of going in or not going in.

Is Boehner willing to put his children's lives at stake to protect a country we have already dumped billions of dollars and thousands of American lives into? We gave them over ten years of our time to reform their country. At this point they should be on their own.

Wouldn't that be his children's decision? Last time I checked serving in the military was voluntary.

Obama has been Presidnet since Jan 2009. He's trained them for >5.5 years, longer than GWB.
Did He fail to train them properly?

Let's give Congress a rifle and ship them over to be boots on the ground, nobody really likes them and the job they've done...

Obama didn't fire the experienced Iraqi military commanders. Bush did. Now they're working for ISIS.

Ah.... rather than asnwer a question you don't want to address, you offer up a red herring. Again.
I therefore again accept your concession of the point.

If the Iraqi army is not trained well enough to fight ISIS, the fault falls on your Secular Messiah.
