Even the most rabid racist shit on here cannot pretend that Leo was anything other than a monster. Its good that the Belgians are turning against him.

This is the infamous Ostend statue showing grateful Africans kneeling at the feet of the monster. Shocking stuff.

Most of the European countries have a long bloody history of racism. This plus added to recent migrations from the Middle East and Africa has made racism a hot issue just as in the US.

Still bitching about shit from a long time ago.

When they put up a statue of Obama, I'm going to protest because he fucked up health care.

Racist bastard.

I guess you need to bring down all the palaces and castles that house the royal families because their ancestors all had slaves. Defund the royal family....

The Brits were the single most racist people there ever were. When they were out trying to colonize the world, they would sell guns to both sides in a country, then stir up unrest between them. They they would move in, restore order, and set up a colonial government.

They did that all throughout Africa, Asia, India, and other places, including here. They furnished weapons to Indian tribes in the US colonies and basically incited them to go massacre settlers, sometimes as many as 500 at one time.

Interesting. America's newest export. Kind of doubt the rise of GDP from T-shirts will make up for the destruction if things turn ugly. Hopefully it will remain peaceful. I cannot ever remember a Belgian policeman or other government abusing black people over there or over here. Pretty sure Belgium is not influencing law enforcement in this country.

The Oxford English Dictionary's first recorded utterance of the word racism by a man named Richard Henry Pratt in 1902. Prior to the 19th century racism as we know it today didn't really exist because racism was a belief in the superiority or inferiority or races. The inferiority of the black race was not a belief it was an accepted fact in most of the modern world. Black people were either considered inferior humans or as many believed first cousins to the apes in Africa from which they came. Among the Christians in the 18th century there was much discussion about whether Negros could be saved as they were not quite human. By the 19th century in America, thanks the work of abolitionists, it was generally accepted that Black people were fully human, could be saved, and the more intelligent taught to read and write and do menial work.

Judging by our conventions and mores of today, our ancestors were pretty horrible people. Killing a black man was only considered worse than killing a dog because the black man cost a lot more than a dog. Racism did not exist in their world because the idea of equality of the races or other cultures was as foreign to them as the far side of the moon.

I believe in a few hundred years, denying the better things in life to people people born with less intelligence, abilities, and upbringing will seem just as barbaric as our ancestors treatment of other races and cultures.
