To get a carry permit. Like AZ where I live, none is required. However you can still get one. It has to be applied for. There is an APPLICATION.
If there is no box to check for race, how do we know the difference in race of Texans who apply?

Yeah it is like that in AZ also. However, if you want a job such as an armed security guard, you still can get an actual permit. Most companies that employ armed security guards require it. It isn't a bad idea to have one. Most of the training is to make sure one knows the laws. Here in AZ I don't remember seeing a question about race, it asked about felonies, drug use, mental health, length of residency ect. It may be different in Texas, but I assume it's pretty much the same. Except as one poster informed us, Texas asks what race the applicant is, and if they are gender confused. We don't have those questions here.
