The problem with this crisis is that it won't ever go away, it will probably only get worse as there are too many other nations with interests and sacrifices in Afghanistan to expect International media to ignore it.

It was an astounding miscalculation. That is to be blamed on those responsible for military intel. It's also a reminder why you want competence over pronoun chasers and political patsies.

When JFK was dealing with the Cuban Missile Crisis he purposely removed himself from the War Room for a day or two to allow others to debate and discuss the options. He stated that he didn't want to be there to influence anyones decision.

That is strong leadership. Put your countries security over partisanship hacks who might be swayed to impress or make inroads with you for their career. You want the right decision made, not just a decision that appeases some politically.

Time will tell on this decision, his comments regarding Taliban not being able to take back Afghanistan will go down as a massive blunder.

Remember when the Taliban first came into the picture they were Robin Hoods to the regular Afghanis.. rescuing daughters that had been kidnapped by the warlords.. They stopped the truck hijacking and the Opium production.
