Best schools in eastern Tennessee?

I live in East TN, but can't give any advice on how good school systems are since I have long been out of that need-to-know arena. If you know where you will be moving it might be good to check the Chamber of Commerce for those cities or counties.

Personally, I think Knoxville and area have so very much to offer in the way of activities - always something going on year-round - concerts, local interest celebrations, museums, a great zoo, winter activities, etc. Oak Ridge has a great science/history museum and various festivals, Clinton is said to be one of the great antique destinations - I know there is an an antique festival every year. There is also Museum of Appalachia featuring history of early settlers, animals. Pigeon Forge/OberGatlinburg have great outlet shopping, amusement parks (Dollywood probably being the best known - rides, shows, arts and crafts), but the area is also a skiing resort and, of course, there are the Great Smoky Mountains. If you like casino gambling there's one over the state line in Cherokee, NC.

Chattanooga, a bit further south toward TN/GA/AL there is a really good aquarium but that's about all I know about that area! There's also an aquarium in OberGatlinburg as well as the Titanic Museum.

Oh, and I should not forget to mention University of Tennessee - Knoxville. Prepare for rabid fan devotion in Big Orange Country. UT also has the famous Body Farm - not sure it's open for tourism, but those interested in crime solving come to study the various states of decomposition of bodies, etc.

Chamber of Commerce would be a good start.

Probably moving there next summer...trying to find best towns for schools...or just best schools can move around that...want my kids to have a good education.

I would contact an area realtor for that information, in addition to the Chamber of Commerce. Realtors have to know the answers to ALL those common questions. I would put kiddos in a charter school or Catholic school for grades 1-8, if I couldn't or didn't want to, home school.

They all teach creationism as fact so you should be in good hands.
Lol really? That's funny...I teach my kids to not believe everything they hear to do their own research so...no biggie.

Maryville City Schools--just outside of Knoxville. Trust me. You won't be disappointed. Best HS football program in the state too.
