Best music of your senior year

I dropped out of school at the very beginning of the tenth year. I lived and worked on a farm until I joined the military just 2 days after my 17th birthday in 1956. During what would have been my senior year, my favorite song was The Marine Corps Hymn. However, this thread is about other music and I do remember times when the entire barracks went to sleep to the sound of Joni James:

Joni James "Among My Souvenirs" - YouTube

sweet tune... hadn't ever heard it before... 'n [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqCLsp5owY8"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqCLsp5owY8[/ame]a very nice lookin' lady singing the tune...

btw... here's a tune from 'round about the same time...

a tune from before I was in my senior year...

but it gives a sense of the way things were back then...

'n I fuckin' loved Otis... 'n still, to this day, mourn his untimely passing...

Same here. I didn't discover him until my early 20's and then I was like omg. Seriously? :(

Honkey Tonk Women
Come Together
Proud Mary
Get Together
Everyday People
Sweet Caroline

based on your choices, lemme take a wild guess...

after 40-some years, you're finally in a position to take over your dad's insurance agency...

Bill, don't be a Dick. I want to hear from everybody, not just people who hear like you do.

Out of that list, I'm torn about three different ways - but I would say this is my favorite.

even after all these years, I still vividly remember how stricken I felt when I saw on the front page of the local newspaper that he'd been killed in a plane crash...

'n that was, what, nearly 50 years ago...?

46, close enough. And I was only nine at the time, so no clue of him or what a loss that was.

For me ... and this is just cursory, but the death that most stunned me was Marvin Gaye.

sorry, Boop... it seems to be in my nature to be a smart-ass jerk this time of night...

'specially after I've had a few whiskeys... :)
