I think we have all become so partisan that we somehow feel we must march lockstep with our party only and make enemies out of the other. Which is why people are becoming independents, they hate that mentality. Sanders knows he wont agree with these kids, but wants to find common ground on the other issues with them. Maybe 10% will end up voting for him. He also spoke in AZ and TX at huge rallies. Other than Iowa, when is the last time a democrat campaigned in a red state? Or a republican in NY or CA? It no longer happens. I am old enough to remember Sanders driving around from farm to farm in VT and speaking personally with farmers and hearing their concerns. Little by little, towns turned blue even though they didn't agree with him on many social issues.

That opens up an interesting discussion about political tolerance in universities. According to author and former radical turned conservative, David Horowitz (who has been a victim of assault on campus), every single high profile conservative speaker has been the victim of assault on a college campus at one time or another and here we have Liberty U. politely offering a socialist candidate a venue to speak. Doesn't that say something about tolerance and left wing anger?
