The land in question is the Sinai that Israel occupied in 1967 and then handed back intact to Egypt. At the same tine they offered gaza back and Egypt reneged because they did not want the problems with the "Palestinians". So now gaza is owned by the elected group hamas who are hell bent on destroying what could be a very lucrative piece of real estate.
