Ben Sasse Conducts a Two-Minute Master Class in American Civics

(Senator Ben Sasse Schools the Senate Judiciary Committee on the role of the Judiciary in the American constitutional republic..) Sasse describes the “elegant and fair process” the Founders created, a system in which Congress makes law, the executive humbly enforces the law, and the judiciary applies “written laws to facts and cases that are actually before it.” And in this process the key question is “not what did Brett Kavanaugh think eleven years ago on some policy matter. The question before us is whether or not he has the temperament and the character to take his policy views and political... look for him to nudge the Supreme Court back towards its proper, more-limited function..... the partisan needs of the moment are far less important than dealing with the permanent temptation to create an imperial judiciary. Good for Senator Sasse to remind us all of the Supreme Court’s proper place.

Senator Ben Sasse spoke eloquently when he gave that great explanation of how things ought to work. He was probably most logical, concise and impressive of all of the politicians in that room today.
This morning from the opening gavel, every Democrat who spoke was a feckless nasty drama queen, whose aim was to disrupt and stop the process of confirmation of a Supreme Court Judge. What a sickening disgraceful lot they are!
The Progressive Marxist Socialist Democrat Left knows the intended role of the courts, they just reject it and have tried to corrupt it for their own use and not for the people of America. They don’t give a damn on what the Founders intended. They want to turn America into something else, and it ain’t pretty.

I actually listened to the entire 12 minutes of his speech. Everything he said is spot on, but it will fall on deaf ears

Any opinion on the Senate not holding a confirmation hearing for 7 months and leaving a seat vacant on the supreme court from Senator Sasse?

No need. Democrats under Sen. Reid had already done the deed. We lived with it and used it too.
