Battle of Los Angeles - Wikipedia

A real life imagined air raid in WWII.

Man, there are more things in history to go reading about. Nothing like some (understandable) hysteria. Both wiki and think it was the History Channel say several people died during the event.

Just something interesting. No greater meaning.

Got any similar random events to link to?

Reminiscent of Orson Welles' radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds" in 1938. Thousands fled their homes in panic of a Martian attack.

P.S. The fear of a Japanese attack on the West Coast was real at the beginning of the war. Camouflaged oil derricks and anti-aircraft emplacements were still visible through the 1950's.
