Bank shooter was a lefty, anti-gunner

The Second Amendment is about Militias.

Now, I was in a Militia once (The Illinois National Guard). It was very "Well Regulated". I underwent a background check. I was given a test to determine my mental acuity. I was fingerprinted (because my MOS required a security clearance). I was part of an established chain of command. And despite that, my access to the guns was very regulated. They kept them in a locked arms vault when I wasn't training with them. We were only issued live Ammo when we were on a range, and every round had to be accounted for. .
The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

Sure, once you convince me the gun owner isn't a crazy person, or someone who is likely to shoot his wife because she burned the pot roast or the neighbor kid who got the address wrong, I'll be all for that.

It should be harder to get a gun than it is to get a mortgage.

When I got a mortgage in 2021, it took about 30 days, and they investigated every aspect of my financial life, even though at the time I was carrying no credit card debt, had never had a bankruptcy, and had previously discharged three mortgages and two Home Equity loans. (The sticking point was that I hadn't sold my old place yet.)

When I applied for a FOID card, I sent them $11.00 and a picture.

Dipshit.......95% or more of shootings in this country are by criminals with long criminal histories.......not normal people who own guns....you know this, but you need to lie to push your agenda...

the individuals shooting guns at each other have been captured over and over again by police, to only be released over and over again by democrat party judges and prosecutors and politicians.....

Your myth about the angry husband is bullshit.......the democrat party is directly responsible for our gun murder rate....

National Guard isn't the militia dumb ass.

30,000 gun uses to kill someone....

Your range on your own statistic is 2.5 Million.... Really? LOL...

Nope.........not my statistic.....actual research...

Lives saved....based on research? By law abiding gun owners using guns to stop criminals?

Case Closed: Kleck Is Still Correct

that makes for at least 176,000 lives saved—

The survey was designed by Deborah Azrael of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Matthew Miller of Northeastern University,

The survey further finds that approximately a third of gun owners (31.1%) have used a firearm to defend themselves or their property, often on more than one occasion, and it estimates that guns are used defensively by firearms owners in approximately 1.67 million incidents per year. Handguns are the most common firearm employed for self-defense (used in 65.9% of defensive incidents), and in most defensive incidents (81.9%) no shot was fired. Approximately a quarter (25.2%) of defensive incidents occurred within the gun owner's home, and approximately half (53.9%) occurred outside their home, but on their property. About one out of ten (9.1%) defensive gun uses occurred in public, and about one out of twenty (4.8%) occurred at work.

Applying those restrictions leaves 19 NSPOF respondents (0.8 percent of the sample), representing 1.5 million defensive users. This estimate is directly comparable to the well-known estimate of Kleck and Gertz, shown in the last column of exhibit 7. While the NSPOF estimate is smaller, it is statistically plausible that the difference is due to sampling error. Inclusion of multiple DGUs reported by half of the 19 NSPOF respondents increases the estimate to 4.7 million DGUs.

n the third column of Table 6.2, we apply the Kleck and Gertz (1995) criteria for "genuine" DGUs (type A), leaving us with just 19 respondents. They represent 1.5 million defensive users. This estimate is directly comparable to the well-known Kleck and Gertz estimate of 2.5 million, shown in the last

As shown in Table 6.6, the defender fired his or her gun in 27 percent of these incidents (combined "fire warning shots" and "fire at perpetrator" percentages, though some respondents reported firing both warning shots and airning at the perpetrator). Forty percent of these were "warning shots," and about a third were aimed at the perpetrator but missed. The perpetrator was wounded by the crime victim in eight percent of all DGUs. In nine percent of DGUs the victim captured and held the perpetrator at gunpoint until the police could arrive.

Obama's study...

Defensive Use of Guns

Defensive use of guns by crime victims is a common occurrence, although the exact number remains disputed (Cook and Ludwig, 1996; Kleck, 2001a). Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million (Kleck, 2001a), in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008 (BJS, 2010).

I knew it.....when it's inconvenient for you, you'd willing throw out the 2nd Amendment. :heehee:

And as all leftists lack anything close to a sense of humor, that went right over your head....

Yes, he was mentally ill...

And still able to get a gun.

Just like John Hinkley.
Yep EVERY 4473 Form should include a Drug Screening for SSRIs & other Illegal Drugs and a list of your Shrinks , Psychologists and how many 51/50s you have had

The writings of the left wing bank shooter state he had an anti-gun motive in his attack......

He wanted to prove how easy it was to purchase a firearm, to highlight the mental health crisis in the U.S., and to commit suicide.

so far this year 5 mass public shootings

2 by asian senior citizens
1 by a black man
1 by a left wing, democrat party transgender radical
1 by a left wing, democrat, anyi-gun nut

Of course.

If he wasn't adjudicated to be mentally ill there is no way of preventing him from buying a gun.

It's the old do you want freedom or security argument.

I know what I'll choose.

Yup, your imaginary freedom shouldn't trump my security.

If you tell me that you can't have your freedom to compensate for your tiny peckers can't exist without crazy people getting guns, then THAT'S A FREEDOM WE DON'T NEED.

You are right. They had to create a National Guard because Militias don't work.
So why are we still allowing unstable people to have guns because we "might need a militia"
Militias ( Unregulated ) worked from the 1500s til just prior to WW1 ( and were briefly revived in early months of WW2 )

That's arguable... The fact that militias were so poorly trained during the Civil War (The NRA was started by a Union General who was horrified by poor marksmanship skills) is a large reason why we developed a more professional army and reserves.

Dont have to be shoot outs, you simpleton, showing a democrat party crimjnal a gun scares them off
Candycorn ALWAYS loses these debates back gly. I almost think you must be paying her to engage to make these leftists look so foolish. She's just out of her league. Like shooting fish in a barrel 😂

I agree... since left wingers are all mentally ill anyone who votes for democrats should be banned from gun ownership
Wow. What happened to "shall not be infringed"? Now you think their right to gun ownership should be infringed upon? Wow. I wasn't expecting to see you reverse your stance here.
