My niece is a psychologist for an inner city school. It is mind numbing what the few bring to school. It totally disrupts the learning of the majority. And these teachers have to deal with so much. And I think it is harder on the old timers, as they remember a day where bad behavior resulted in discipline, and if that didn't work, suspension then expelled. Today, they must learn to live with it, be counseled themselves on how to keep the emotionally disturbed/troublemakers in a calm state, even when nothing can do that. Rather than spend their time teaching those ready and willing to learn, they must spend their time appeasing the few. Some kids are removed to another school for those with problems for a short while, only to return to begin all over again. It is true, many of these kids are screaming for attention, any way they can get it, since at home they don't have it. Others have seen/experienced so much at home they are emotionally disturbed. And then you have the characters that just need a little discipline in their lives, that can't be given today.
Then you have the teachers that don't care, are only there for a pay check.

And last you have those teachers, counselors, psychologists that cry at night, knowing they can do only so much, and because they can't change things for a few of the few, and also don't have the time to properly educate the majority, when 10% of the class takes so much of their time.

At mine:
- The librarian was a tin pot dictator, that believed in draconian measures.
- The male bathrooms tended to have a few clogged toilets.
- At least a third of the teachers just taught from the textbook, and had no personal initative.
- The IT staff were anti-gaming nazis, till they realized they could make money out of charging for a games club.
- Hallways were crammed with 1st and 2nd years playing card games.
- The food in the privately contracted cafeteria was overpriced, and could pretty much be made at home by preschoolers.
- The school made leaving school for lunch a no no (save for last years) to prop up the cafeteria monopoly.
- The balls/proms sucked, unless you went to the after balls where you could get drunk.
- The Physical Education/Health teacher had issues, and made everyone stay overtime at her classes.
- One of the science teachers was a gay-hating lesbian, or maybe just hated guys, not sure.
- The school had no clue of how to deal with LGBT, and the gay support group was used by bullies to shame people they suspected of being gay.

Now if that happened at a supposedly high income high school, I can't imagine how shit it would be at a low income one. :/

I agree with your post, but a one parent family can still do it. What about all the baby boomers like me? My dad tried to join the military when married to my mom but wouldn't take him due to his heart problems. But what about those that were in the service and are not home? The mom has to do the parenting.
