Baby formula boss warns crisis will last ALL YEAR as Biden claims it will be eased in weeks and only a 'mind reader' could have seen it coming.

The head of one of the four companies that control 90 percent of the U.S. market for baby formula has warned that the shortages nationwide could last until the end of the year, as President Joe Biden's critics mocked his claim that 'only a mind reader' could have predicted the current crisis.

On Friday CEO of formula giant Perrigo Murray Kessler, told Reuters he expects shortages and heightened demand to last for the 'balance of the year.'

Kessler said their factories in Ohio and Vermont are running at 115 percent capacity, to compensate for Chicago-based Abbott's shutdown - but added that supplies would remain erratic for the remainder of 2022.

'We have stepped up and are killing ourselves to do everything we can,' Kessler said.

At the request of the FDA, Perrigo is focusing on four items: the store-brand versions of Similac Pro Sensitive and Pro Advance, and Enfamil Gentle Ease and Infant, Kessler said.

Here's the good question. Why did we let four companies control 90% of the market without any regulatory oversite.

But eight years earlier, the formula industry rejected an opportunity to take a more proactive approach — not only for increasing supply capacity, but also for preventing a potential outbreak. Records show that the industry successfully mobilized against a 2014 proposal from the FDA to increase regular safety inspections of plants used to manufacture baby formula.

At the time, the FDA had proposed rules to prevent the adulteration of baby formula in any step of the process in order to prevent contamination from salmonella and Cronobacter sakazakii, which led to this year’s Sturgis plant shutdown.

The largest infant formula manufacturers quickly stepped up to delay the safety proposals. The International Formula Council, now known as the Infant Nutrition Council of America, is the lobby group that represents Abbott Nutrition (owned by Abbott Laboratories), Gerber (owned by Nestlé), Perrigo Co., and Reckitt Benckiser Group, the companies that control 89 percent of the baby formula market in the U.S.

Actually, there is a tremendous amount of regulatory oversight. The Biden FDA is the regulatory body involved in closing Abbott's manufacturing plant.

If five babies got sick, then, no, they aren't sufficiently regulated.

Come to think of it, this is pretty much one of the more evil industries. They market a product most women don't really need. Nature gave them to perfectly fine baby food dispensers.

Yet they have been marketing this product for decades, often in poor countries where women can't really afford their products. They make agreements to reform and regularly break them.

Yet that matters shit-all when young mothers, their mothers and aunts go to the polls in November....Not to mention the dads/granddads that have to listen to the incessant whining of their women on the hunt for formula.

At least it blew the whole "mah abortion" thing out of the water.....As far as they will be concerned not only do dems want to kill babies inside the womb but give preference to illegal babies and starve American babies.

Man, you people are so fucked......And yes, I'm relishing every minute. Deserves has everything to do with it.

Naw, man, the fact you are desperately trying to create a fake crisis says how worried you are that women are going to figure out what the Republic of Gilead means to them.

Oh, check this out.. My local grocery store yesterday in the baby formula section. A couple of empty spots, but not the crisis you guys are making it out to be. Not like the worst part of Trump Plague when we had rows of empty shelves.
