Lets re-visit beautiful…but lightly populated….Antrim County, Michigan. County seat is Bellaire, with it’s population of about 1,100.

If you recall it was much in the news in some circles recently. Dominion voting machines, cheating, stolen election, vote fraud, etc. etc.

In fact, we had a cohort of critics of Antrim’s ability to hold a fair election on this very venue. Some may wish to raise their hand. Judging by their posting history, those skeptics were vehement Don Trump supporters.

And then, the Secretary of State’s office did an audit of Antrim and found no fraud. And then the Michigan GOP led Senate’s Oversight Committee investigated Antrim county…..and found no fraud. In the end, as it was the evening of November 3rd, Don Trump won Antrim County. Handily. Which no one was surprised by. It’s rural Michigan, it is GOP country. Has been for a long long time.

Regrettably, partisan critics made the good poll workers and the county and township clerks appear to be crooks betraying America.

So here is a column from an opinion writer with the Washington Post (see link below). He informs us on some of the details of that Antrim brouhaha. I include it here as a separate thread as it seems to me to be one more example as to why so much of America is so skeptical of the conviction is some quarters that the 2020 election ‘was stolen’.
Plus the columnists fleshes out some of the count's 'irregularities' that sent the partisans on their harmful crusade. THAT is quite informative.

The ‘Stop-the-Steal’ voices have proven themselves so wrong, so unprepared, so uninformed and ill-informed, that their credibility is obliterated. Rudy G,. Krakenpot Powell, Trumps Jr and Sr.; Melissa Carone , Lin Wood, et al, haven’t inspired a whole lot of confidence.
And then comes Antrim County.

“If you remember that the lower part of Michigan is shaped a bit like a left-handed mitten, look for Antrim County between the tips of the middle and ring fingers. It’s a beautiful place. The Lake Michigan beaches are delightful in summer. The fishing is fantastic year-round. Unlikely as it seems, this is an epicenter of Stolen Election mania.

On Nov. 3, 2020, Election Day, vote-tabulating machines in Antrim spat out the following results shortly after the polls closed, the committee found. In a county with 22,082 registered voters, 16,044 ballots were cast. A pretty good turnout. Not every ballot included a vote for president. Of those that did, the lion’s share went to then-president Donald Trump: 9,748. Challenger Joe Biden received 5,960 votes.

No surprise. Rural counties in western Michigan reliably vote Republican.

What happened next was very surprising, though. When the results were fed into the county clerk’s spreadsheet, flaws in the spreadsheet design produced a mistaken report that Biden had won Antrim County. But no one was fooled for a minute. Folks in Antrim immediately started looking for the cause of the suspected error. On Nov. 5, they figured out that a number of Trump votes had been improperly entered in the spreadsheet, and a new report was made with Trump’s total corrected.

Alas, now there were more “votes” than actual ballots, so obviously the spreadsheet was still messed up. Antrim officials decided to recount the actual ballots. Back through the counting machines they went, exactly 16,044 of them. On Nov. 6, the tabulators spat out results identical to the original election night numbers: 9,748 for Trump, 5,960 for Biden. This total was eventually certified.

Just to be sure — given the brief confusion — a decision was made to recount the ballots again, this time by hand.

These results were finalized on Dec. 17. The painstaking manual inspection of the ballots found that the machines misread one ballot as a vote for Biden when it was not. Eleven ballots were determined to show Trump votes that the machines could not read. A total adjustment of 12 ballots out of nearly 16,000 presidential votes.

In other words, the original Election Day tabulation in Antrim County was 99.9 percent accurate.

Since then, the Internet and social media have been jammed with wild theories about international conspiracies to hack the vote in Antrim County. In the Joe Friday, just-the-facts tone preferred by McBroom, the report finds:

“Events in Antrim County sparked a significant amount of concern….which led to much speculation, assumptions, misinformation, and in some cases, outright lies meant to create doubt and confusion.” The committee recommends that the Michigan attorney general consider investigating the various lowlifes who have deployed lies “to raise money or publicity for their own ends.”

Antrim county isn’t the issue. It’s a small population. The cheating happened in the big Democrat run cities when they dumped hundreds of thousands of votes in the middle of the night.

The Michigan Legislature debunked that.

Several individuals testified and claimed that tens of thousands of ballots were “dumped” at the TCF Center on election night, when reported vote tallies showed that President Trump was still in the lead. They allege this occurred between 3 – 5 a.m. and that they were brought onto the floor to be counted. Chris Thomas, the senior elections advisor for the city of Detroit, stated he estimated 16,000 ballots were delivered to the TFC Center around that time. Some other persons and media speculated it was nearly 100,000, but most reported about 30,000-45,000. These ballots were submitted throughout Election Day at different locations, such as drop boxes, in the mail, and at the clerk’s main and satellite offices. After the ballots were compiled and processed at the clerk’s office, after the closing of polls at 8 p.m., they were brought to the TFC Center for counting. These ballots were not brought in a wagon as alleged, but via delivery truck and then placed on carts. A widely circulated picture in media and online reports allegedly showed ballots secretly being delivered late at night but, in reality, it was a photo of a WXYZ-TV photographer hauling his equipment.

Others claimed that the TCF Center security camera footage around the same time showed some type of “ballot dump.” While the video in question confirms that a number of ballots were delivered at the time alleged, it provides no evidence of fraudulent or wrongful conduct. In the video, the van arrived around 3:30 a.m. and unloaded the absentee ballots. Once unloaded, the van left around 3:55 a.m. to go back to the satellite office where the processing was occurring. The van arrived back once again around 4:30 a.m. to unload the final ballots. This theory, like many of the other theories proposed as evidence of fraud, does not constitute actual evidence on its own. Those drawing such conclusions in their affidavits and testimony were asked to provide proof that something illegal actually occurred but no proof that ballots were fraudulent was provided or found by the Committee in testimony or in subpoenaed records. However, this situation does raise issues with the delayed and cumbersome process of obtaining absentee ballots from drop boxes on election night, when many other activities and processes are also ongoing."

By definition, being impeached is being "accused." Trump was impeached twice. To your point he was found not guilty and not removed by the senate. But again the definition of impeachment is done only by the house and all it takes is a majority vote

There is nothing you could learn about this election that would change your mind or convince you that the election was fair and above board.

- all of the county election officials in every county in the country
- federal courts at all levels including the Supreme Court
- the Election Security Branch of the DHS
- the Department of Justice under Donald Trump,
- poll watchers from both parties in every polling station and counting location throughout the country
- the independent election certification organization Donald Trump brought in from Europe
- and Senate and Congress of the United States both of which certified the election after hearing out every Trumpian objection

Multiple investigations, audits, and hand-counts indicate it was a very legit election with accurate ballot counts verified and certified.

That is good news for Antrim and those hard working and dedicated poll workers and the township and county clerks.
It is good news for America too.
It again affirms that the system worked. The protocols and the multi-layers of responsibility ....worked.
Americans, and Michigan residents and Antrim County can have more confidence that the American way of voting is a valid and valuable methodology for casting our votes.

That's all positive.

Also what is positive is that it puts to rest the conspiracies and ill-motivated misinformation that 'Antrim County cheated'.

As such, it is one more discredit to all the assertions of folks like Rudy G., Krakenpot Powell, Pillowboy, Merissa Carrone, and Don Trump. Credibility matters. And reliability matters.
We have seen their word is not credible.
Their word is not reliable.
Little Antrim County proves that.

Our skepticism must apply to all of their assertions about the 2020 election. If they can't get it right after trying time and time again, well, America cannot rely on their word in other venues.
