As China moves to impose new control over Hong Kong, international reaction remains muted

As I've said, weakest Western leadership in our history. Probably worse than the 1930s at this point. Europe, as often is the case, is weak and impotent. While the backers of global socialism pretend that America is the problem.

Don't forget which cowards turned their backs on Poland and Czechslovakia, only to then face the horrors directly themselves due to their own mismanagement and absurd position of weakness. Millions more list than needed to be. Now we see Europe once again, turning their backs on freedom. I guarantee if they continue this position they will once again be facing the threat in a worse way in the future.

The dye has been cast. I hope you all vote accordingly in 2020.

BERLIN — Plans by China’s ruling Communist Party to impose a sweeping national security law in Hong Kong, which experts said would be Beijing’s most direct move yet to exert direct control over the territory, were met with fierce criticism in the United States and several other countries Friday but with a muted reaction in Europe.
The draft bill — once approved at the annual National People’s Congress, which is underway — will give the Chinese security state far more of a legal basis to operate in Hong Kong.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called the Chinese plan “disastrous” and a “death knell” for the territory’s relative autonomy.
Pro-democracy activists hoping for similar reactions in Europe were disappointed.

In Britain, Downing Street said in a statement it was “monitoring the situation closely” and that it expected “China to respect Hong Kong’s rights and freedoms and high degree of autonomy.” On Friday afternoon, Australia, Britain and Canada released a similar joint statement.

“As a party to the joint declaration, the UK is committed to upholding Hong Kong’s autonomy and respecting the one country, two systems model,” the U.K. statement continued, according to Reuters.
What is happening in Hong Kong?
Britain handed Hong Kong over to China in 1997, with the understanding that the former colony would continue to operate mostly under its own rule for 50 years.
“The British statement is pretty standard. But this is not a standard erosion of Hong Kong’s status,” said Steve Tsang, the director of the China Institute at SOAS University of London. “This is a much, much bigger deal.”

it was Thatchers lowest moment as prime minister

but America had already set the precident for pandering by expelling Taiwan from the Security Council and replacing it with communist china

Taiwan doesn't have nukes! BTW, the word is "precedent".
True

Red china has the nukes and they are pointed at America

We need a free Taiwan for our own freedom

People are so scared China is going to attack Taiwan. I'd like to know how they plan on doing it unless their Chinese Army had become world class swimmers.

I'm so sick and tired of Communist China I can not begin to tell you.

China has a modern navy and its getting better all the time

But I think they would prefer to take Taiwan by subversion rather than force

China has almost no amphibious capability or heavy airlift capacity. They would have to swim to get there.

China is greatly improving and modernizing their Navy

thanks to the $500 billion dollars they make a year from trade with us

while at the same time liberals on America are trying to gut our navy

but again, an invasion is not china’s first choice

I bet you’ve heard of Sun Tzu and his teachings

It still applies today
