This story I wrote is about a monstrous terrorism incident at the Appleton Beer Factory, perhaps an American symbol of 'traffic, culture, and sanity.'

The purpose of this short-story is to raise the question, "How will tourism be defended (philosophically) in this modern age of terrorism?" Since there are countless vigilantism-daydream comic book adapted films being made in Hollywood (USA) now, people seem ultra-conscious of 'justice storytelling' and 'civics hell-holes.'

Oliver Queen (aka, 'Green Arrow') travelled to Wisconsin to see the Appleton Beer Factory in March. He had heard the news stories of a wandering 'American psycho' named Leatherface (a chainsaw-wielding cannibal) who had already trekked across 15 U.S. states and was terrorizing random locations (at night) where passerby were found defenseless (such as amusement parks, shopping mall parking lots, abandoned barns, and drive-in theaters). Leatherface had already killed 20 people (all adults under 50) and Oliver (Green Arrow) predicted the psycho might visit the Appleton Beer Factory that March. Arrow took a crossbow instead of his usual handy-dandy bow-and-arrow set, since he needed something quick-to-shoot to deal with Leatherface.

The Appleton Beer Factory, a proud establishment, welcomed visitors, beer-lovers, and general tourists, and offered glimpses of its factory floors where hops were 'festively' converted into favorite malt beverages. The factory was large and boasted many corridors and main rooms and contained a great deal of equipment, so children were not allowed to enter. Arrow arrived on a Monday morning (second week of March), and the factory guides and executives welcomed him with open arms. "We're so thrilled that America's favorite 'superhero' wishes to visit us in this time of general panic and anxiety --- in regards to the reports of the wandering 'Leatherface'!" an Appleton representative told Arrow. Arrow assured him that he would keep everything 'sane' with this effective crossbow.

Arrow participated in the Appleton Beer Factory tour and found everything to be rather impressive. He realized why tourists and beer-lovers would want to see and visit such an institution. He took note of the factory's large equipment and various corridors and main rooms. He also took note of what could be grabbed and used as weapons (should Leatherface 'pop in'). For the first several days, there were no signs of terror, and the national news offered up no new stories about Leatherface striking again. Then, in the third week, while Arrow was walking around the factory at about 8 p.m. (closing time was midnight) on Saturday, he heard the sounds of people screaming (from one of the main rooms and fleeing). Arrow fastened the crossbow in his hands and started following the sounds of the screaming people.

When Arrow walked into one of the main rooms where the screaming sounds were coming from, he noticed Leatherface (who had his back turned to him) waving his chainsaw around. He had already killed a person --- a man of about 30 years-of-age who happened to be in that room. Arrow knew Leatherface had entered the beer factory, since it was a great site for general pedestrian activity and tourism. He raised his crossbow and started running towards Leatherface. Just then the psycho turned around and noticed the superhero running towards him. Leatherface grabbed a young woman running by him and held her to his chest (as a hostage). Arrow had no choice but to let the psycho wander into another main room (if he tried to shoot his crossbow, Leatherface would kill the hostage woman he held in his arms).

Arrow quietly walked into the other main room where Leatherface wandered into with the hostage woman. Leatherface had cut one of the main circuits of the fuse-box, so the lighting was flickering and unreliable. He noticed that Leatherface had used his chainsaw to gash away at several of the beer-tanks in the main rooms, so there was the moisture and smell of ale on the floor. Leatherface apparently was holding his hand over the mouth of the hostage woman, since Arrow could not hear her screaming. The lighting was very dim, and Arrow tried to walk across the ale-drenched floor without making too much noise (so the psycho could not hear him approaching). "Leatherface! Let the woman go! This is between you and me, pal. You're looking for someone strong enough to challenge, so you can stop terrorizing 'meaningless' pedestrians who have no way of challenging you! Prove to me you're a man and not some kind of crazy animal!" Arrow yelled.

The hostage woman was released by Leatherface, and Arrow could hear her screaming and fleeing. The lights in the room were completely shut off now, and Arrow had to rely on his sense of sound. Arrow skulked towards the origin point of the hostage woman's first scream-sounds (since that's probably where Leatherface was standing and waiting for his 'worthy challenger'). Arrow was so frightened (Leatherface was a real monster with very little resemblance to a normal man). Arrow decided to just use his sense of sound and track his memory of the origin point of the hostage woman's first scream-sounds and raised his crossbow to fire at what would be in the nearest proximity of Leatherface's head. Sure enough, one of Arrow's crossbow arrows struck Leatherface in the left eye, and the psycho fell to the floor just as he turned his chainsaw on.

Arrow ran towards the sound of the chainsaw (after hearing the psycho fall to the floor) and disarmed the ghoul. He then tied him up with his super-strong rope and let the Wisconsin Police deal with the monster. When interviewed by the factory executives and the police, Arrow reminded everyone not to be afraid of hardware stores and chainsaws just because a random 'American monster' had used the handy-dandy tool to make himself a demon. He also reminded them to be wary of security protocols in heavily-trafficked areas such as museums, malls, and college campuses since the modern-day 'terrorist' was very perceptive of humanity's pedestrian behaviors. Arrow was remembered as an American angel. Leatherface was remembered as an American abomination. A film-maker decided to make a film of the heroic incident titled Anarchy at Appleton, and it made millions. Arrow's only concern was that the film would inspire impressionable juveniles to become 'Leatherface copycats.' "A superhero's work is never done," muttered Arrow.
