Arrest reported in Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder

Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of rapper Tupac Shakur.

Duane "Keffe D" Davis was arrested early Friday morning by Las Vegas Police, although the exact charge or charges were not immediately clear, two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest told The Associated Press. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday.

Davis has long been known to investigators and has himself admitted in interviews and in his 2019 tell-all memoir, "Compton Street Legend," that he was in the Cadillac when the gunfire erupted during the September 1996 drive-by shooting.

No surprise here that the suspect is another Amish thug.

In this case he deserves a reward; one less asshole rapper is a positive benefit to society. The govt. should pay bounties on killing gangsters; that would save everybody a lot of time and money, and clean out the vermin a lot sooner,

I’m sorry he was murdered. I hope they do have a solid case if it’s the right guy (or one of them).

I’ve never figured out why there was such a rivalry between rap artists that violence was ever considered a necessary tool. I still don’t get it.

You don't care. Quit lying.

2Pac was pretty good. Cut down early. Rumors abound about that. Like how he was a childhood actor

and maybe just faked his own death to get away from it all.

I wonder how many haters will download this image and store it with their nudes of Hunter -- for late nite viewings?

It’s crazy to think he would be 52 years old if he were still alive
He is.
He is in the jungles of Malaysia and he is there with Elvis, Anthony Bourdain, and a host of others.
Tonight, Bruce Lee will be giving an exhibition and a concert from G-Slimm and there will be a how to series presented by Pablo Escobar

I believe he would not have lived this long, no matter what.

Look at Thug Life: Look at what sets the Gangs off. Celebrities, but sill part of gangs.

The 60-year-old alleged member of the South Side Compton Crips street gang was the uncle of gang member Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, long considered the prime suspect in Shakur’s killing. Anderson was beaten by the rapper and his entourage on the night of the murder, allegedly in retaliation for Anderson’s role in snatching a Death Row chain at a Los Angeles Mall in July 1996; Anderson, 23, who denied involvement in the Shakur murder, was shot and killed in 1998 in a gang shooting and was never charged with the killing.

Shakur was gunned down inside a black BMW driven by Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight when it was stopped at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip on the night of a Mike Tyson fight. A white Cadillac pulled up next to the passenger side of Tupac’s car and someone inside fired 14 rounds. Hit four times, Shakur was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died a week later. The unsolved case has spawned a number of conspiracy theories about the murder, including allegations that it was tied to the similarly unsolved murder of the Notorious B.I.G. in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997 as part of a media-whipped East Coast-West Coast rap rivalry.

There's a Ray Ban factory there?

Elvis is tied to Roy O.

Can't figure out Thug Life?

In July 1996, Anderson was involved in an altercation at Lakewood Mall, where he and his entourage assaulted Trevon Lane, a member of Death Row Records, and stole his Death Row medallion. There was rumored to be a bounty placed on Death Row medallions by their rivals, the Compton Crips, of which Anderson was a respected member. This move was extremely disrespectful and infuriated Suge Knight, Tupac Shakur, and the rest of Death Row.

On September 7, 1996, after the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson fight, Trevon Lane coincidentally spotted Anderson by himself in the MGM, and told Tupac and the rest of the Death Row entourage that Anderson was the one responsible for snatching his medallion. Tupac can then be seen on the MGM’s security camera running over to Anderson with the rest of his entourage and throwing the first punch. Anderson then suffered a rather severe beatdown as he was essentially jumped by five men with no one to help him. However, according to BG Knocc Out in an interview with VladTV, Anderson escaped the worst of the beating by managing to cover his face during the attack. The fight occurred three hours before Shakur's shooting.
