Army sets sights on new air-dropped fast-attack vehicle

Got a link?

The Army has tough specifications

Watch out, the Army is looking for a fast ground vehicle. Lets face it a Kid with a cutting torch could build it in about 9 months at a 10th of what they will spend. You got to read the news pieceArmy sets sights on new air-dropped fast-attack vehicle to laugh at the idea.

I dont see why you'd need to go with whoever they did when companies such as Polaris could easily fill that nich and have in the past for our special forces.
It's not like they offer any protection from mines or anything else for that matter.

It makes more sense than a trillion dollar Carrier or other ship designed for a sea war that will never happen. At least the Army understands the modern threat.

The other problem with your theory about these vehicles means boots on the ground.
Which obviously is a bad idea unless actual warfare breaks out.
You can park a carrier group of someone's coast line and never have to fire a shot.

A lot will depend on its mission

How vulnerable do you want the troops to be?

I see this as limited use.
Quick in and out recon or placing SF forces and getting the hell out.

a kid could not build it
you don't want crap made by crap companies

Why not?
Companies like Polaris already have a leg up on off road vehicles.
The military will give the specs and what the vehicle will be required to do.
Polaris or any of the other SxS builders can easily beef things up to MilSpec.

It is hard to get qualified as a vendor
Especially for vehicles

They would probably have to sub to a major defense contractor

Like I said....
They'd have to agree to build to the militaries spec.
And also as I've said,Polaris has already built vehicles for the military.

I'm sure there would be collaboration with defense contractors.

Have you ever made anything for the US Government?
I was in on the F-22 prototype and I made flight hardware for the NASA Shuttle program.
We had gov. inspectors in shop to double check everything we made.
