Here's a tale I cooked up about culture vigilantes in America dealing with a new brand of civilization evil --- the serial killer (e.g., Jack the Ripper, the Boston Strangler, etc.).

I think this creates a 'pop-literature' realm demand for 'civilization psychiatry' totems such as Arkham Asylum (DC Comics), a fictional urban center for the treatment of criminal insanity and the incarceration of the American vigilante Batman's intellectually anxious nemeses such as Poison Ivy (an eco-terrorist) and Scarecrow (a masked maniac wielding 'fear toxins').

Thomas Hewitt had killed 10 policemen and 10 passerby in Texas primarily with his chainsaw but also with other destructive weapons before the American vigilante 'Highway Ninja' tackled him and put him down with an electric stun-gun and had him transported to a maximum security psychiatric incarceration and treatment center known as Arkham Asylum. Highway Ninja (HN) called Hewitt 'Leatherface' and accused him of betraying basic sensibilities about human safety and security (and sanity!). Leatherace's criminal insanity trial and treatment gained much media attention.

HN was frustrated with the media attention lavished upon Leatherface (an instant 'celebrity') who was now 'rumored' to be dating a pornography actress (a gorgeous red-head named Sandra). HN decided to start a TV broadcast 'youth evangelism' crusade involving the advertising of child-doodles of fantastic 'super-heroes' --- e.g., Batman (DC Comics) --- and omen-themed 'super-psychos' --- e.g., Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). HN's show on NBC Saturday mornings was called The Doodle-Dreamers and it invited children of multicultural backgrounds to present perspectives on 'sanity art.'

An African-American couple from Yale University calling themselves the 'Masquerading Marauders' wanted to commit a series of bank robberies across the USA and the heist of armored trucks to deliver home the message that new age federalism propaganda and a capitalism-subjective Trump Administration were signs that civilization had become obsessed with commerce and consumerism. When the Masquerading Marauders were arrested by the Highway Ninja and delivered to Arkham Asylum, they agreed to a symbolic multiculturalism discussion broadcasted on TV and co-sponsored by the NAACP. Here is a transcript of the interview:

MARAUDERS: Why is the media so interested in our 'pseudo-vigilante' deed?
INTERVIEWER: The NAACP is interested in the political multiculturalism overtones of your anti-federalism 'stunts.'
MARAUDERS: Our robberies/heists were meant to represent a modern urban angst towards centralized government.
INTERVIEWER: Do you think decentralized governance is better for new age commerce culture (e.g., European Union)?
MARAUDERS: We think commerce requires a more direct form of democracy which if not fulfilled will result in madness.
INTERVIEWER: Did you study dystopian philosophy at Yale?
MARAUDERS: Yes, we did!
INTERVIEWER: Do you think the modern world is a proverbial 'mad city'?
MARAUDERS: Yes, we do!
INTERVIEWER: Why do you think you're considered 'criminally insane'?
MARAUDERS: Our derring-do is interpreted to be a race-oriented crusade bordering on fanaticism.
INTERVIEWER: Do you think race-politics is the greatest challenge to modernism?
MARAUDERS: Yes, we do!
INTERVIEWER: Will you be remembered as bandits, banshees, or bards?
MARAUDERS: We'll be remembered as 'mad pirates.'
INTERVIEWER: They'll probably make a movie about Arkham Asylum because of you!
