What if conspiracy theories are created with the intention to take focus away bigger problems/issues? What if the government feeds to the media and the people made up information purposely making it look suspicious, to create a decoy so that people take their focus off what is really going on?
The government knows that people question them all the time about everything, so how hard would it really be for them to create a conspiracy?
It is not hard to spread any kind of information whether fact or false to the mass media. Its not hard to create fake stories and/or events or even actions to make one think that the government is trying to keep some thing secret from us.
What do you think?

I'm thinking that the ease of spreading false information is the reason we have such a thriving conspiracy nut community, and a large part of the right wing politicians that have been elected.

Anyone can flood the internet with false information, backed with false evidence and false facts that seem real and makes sense. Anyone can spread false stories and make it seem like there are so many other people that agree. Doesn't matter the source, if the creator makes it believable enough and make it seem like other people are agreeing, the will fall right in line. The human brain is so easy to manipulate and convince. I can make a story right now that will make conspiracy theorist go nuts over. Nov. 13/2017 an avid hiker, Ralph Waldo Emerson, enjoyed hiking and exploring different trails. He decided to hike the Fallacy Hills of simplicity county just North of New York near Canadian Border. It was consider to be a more difficult trail that only a more experienced hiker should attempt. Ralph has been hiking for over 35 years now, and there is no trail he couldn't conquer. So him and his buddy, Marlboro, packed their gear and was off to hike The Fallacy hills. Should never hike in the wilderness alone.
Little did they know, what lays ahead of their, just another hike. It was a beautiful sunny day, in the mid 70s, not a single cloud in the sky. To them it was just a normal hike through the woods.
After about 2 hours into their hike, they decided to venture of the trail. They came across a nice waterfall falling off a beautiful steep cliff into a sparkling pool of water, which flowed down stream. After admiring the beauty of nature they decided it was time to get back on the trail and get moving.
They went back the way they thought they came but ended back at that waterfall. Every direction the tried they would end back at the same spot. They seem to be lost.
Ralphs buddy, Marlboro, described what he thought was a blinding flash that overwhelmed him and Ralph. Following the flash he describe what he thought to be a paralyzing mist that covered they both of them and seemed to not be able to move a muscle.
Marlboro then describes a group of 15-20 men that looked like government military special ops. The waterfall seemed to open up. Marlboro then described they were captured by the men and taken to a room inside the waterfall, then strapped to ice cold observation tables. Marlboro was barely able to turn his head in either direction, but was able to get a glimpse of Ralph. Marlboro went on to describe what seems to be impossible, The men started to cut Ralph open, and insert some kinda of body part that came from what he thought to be an alien life form from out of this world.
Ralph was screaming in pain and fear. All of a sudden the body part like began to come alive and get out of the grip of they. Which helped Marlboro get free and escape.
Countless times Marlboro attempted to show authorities the location but could not find it. Ralph was never seen again.
A government secret facility deep in fallacy hills? Is the government experimenting on unwilling human participants with Aliens from another world? What is the Government really up to?
Conspiracy theorist Jesse Ventura, says that a secret government facility in the fallacy hills is believable.
There have been numerous sightings of weird activity in and around the area by locals.
Some say the saw things flying, military men in a different type of uniform, and the government quarantined a local area and wouldn't tell the locals what was really going on.

Make a fake interview on youtube with Marlboro being interviewed with his face blurred to prevent anyone recognizing him. Which would actually be you on the video.
I bet so many conspiracy theorist fall for it

It's even easier if they WANT to believe it. That is why facts, not alternative facts, are so important, and so dangerous to so many.

If it is impossible to keep the truth from leaking out then spread a lot of lies that are just as implausible as the truth. The people who consider themselves to be intelligent and rational will ignore or laugh at all of them.

.
Not many people know this, but the Easter Bunny started the Christmas Holiday retail market by inventinting Santa Claus.

They have decoy theorists that diverts the attention of others truth seekers from the real facts. And some of them make conspiracies sounds so ridiculous, that nobody will not take time to listen to the facts about the conspiracy.

The topic starting poster seems to believe that a "757" flying at 500 mph with its nose 8 feet off the ground hit the Pentagon on 911, and if you notice that such a plane would have its engines IN THE GROUND at the time, that is a "conspiracy" theory even if it measures out...
