April was best month in history for U.S. budget, according to CBO figures

I was told the tax cuts were the worst thing ever, yet here we are with every economic report showing record positives.

It's almost as if Democrats have no clue.

Nobody does.
Our foe is not party specific, we just think it is.
All we do is put on our respective colors and throw rocks over the fence at each other.

I do not see a lot of confidence in the fact that new build applications have not risen to meet demand. I have been talking about this for months now and n o one has responded. Current listing times in my area are under 30 days this means an under supply of homes on the market. The market normaly corrects it's self by an increase in new home purchases from the builder and we would see a large uptick in new build applications for building permits. This is not happening for the first time in history, my only explanation for this is lack of confidence by the builder developer. This is a big topic amongst county engineers right now because they have already hired the people to deal with what they thought was going to be a big influx in applications and those people have not had the applications come in. This is the way it is in Ohio where I am responsible for knowing the market. It would be interesting to talk to others states and see if they are seeing the same thing.

buildings have been popping up like mushrooms after a spring rain in my city-----
rentals are swinging to the moon. In fact buildings are rising to the moon----
lots of really HIGH buildings blocking the sun
That sounds comercial. We were talking housing at that point in thread. Residential applications is an indicator housing confidence. High rent also an indication of a lack of supply of housing that should result in residential applications. Like I said this is the case in my area Ohio, I am not on top of that in your area. If you are interested a simple call to the county engineers office would likely retreave a real answer to the question in your area. In Ohio this is the best place to look as they handle new permits in the county, City permits are normally handled by the city engineers office but this can change from city to city and in Ohio most cities are 100%^ built inside of city lines and the cities here do not get many applications for new build homes as there is no where to put them. Unless you live in a city that has a lot of open land they are not getting to many residential new build applications. A call to your county engineer and just ask them if residential new build applications are significantly up you will get a real answer in your area. This makes me sweat a little to be honest new build aplications should be going thru the roof from what I am seeing about supply and demand reports across the country If they are not this is a signal of some thing deeply wrong and a situation that I have never experienced in my life nor have I read about such a situation.

Record setting month and yet on May 1st our debt had increased by $537,883,433,862 for the CY.

Still on pace for a deficit of 1.67 trillion dollars for the CY.
that's on Congress for increasing spending. right? Trump shouldn't have signed that. That doesn't take away from the revenue coming in. That was the purpose of the cut as well as creating jobs. which it did. you can argue all day about the deficit. that wasn't the intent of the tax cut. As I just described.

What do you mean nobody does? After every tax cut the economy blossoms. This is just another example of what happens when leaches are removed and the host allowed to be more liberated.

Good point. Time to defund all socialist related government spending and layoff half of all DC government employees.

As long as you include the entire Fed Govt to include the DOD then I am with ya

Nope, your hatred of our military does not get considered.

Half all DC government workers are to be canned and every socialist related program defunded.

It's for the children.

What a moron... spend 20 years in the Marines and you want to claim I hate the military.

Fuck you partisan zealots are just stupid.

What happens after every tax cut is that revenue growth slows down, this is an indisputable fact

April is always a strong month for government finances, with taxpayers filing their returns for the previous year and settling up what they owe, even as expenditures often dip for the month.

But this year was particularly strong, with receipts jumping 13 percent compared to a year ago.

The news couldn’t come at a better time for President Trump and congressional Republicans, who were facing major questions about the damage last year’s tax-cut package might do to future deficits. Just a month ago the CBO projected that the deficit would quickly soar back to $1 trillion a year.

So far, seven months into fiscal year 2018, the government is running a $382 billion deficit. That’s $37 billion worse than last year’s figure through seven months, chiefly because spending has surged 5 percent so far this year.

Higher inflation is driving up the government’s debt payments, while Homeland Security disaster relief, Social Security benefit payments and the Defense Department also saw significant increases.

in my city, there is a different kind of real-estate epidemic. -------two family homes---
three family homes and small "multi-family" residential------something like

This is excellent news, illustrating that the tax cuts have not decreased revenue, because more people are working and contributing, paying taxes, whereas before they were supported by the state.

The dignity of employment and independence is a Human Right. Excellent results based on President Trumps leadership. I can't tell you how great this news is. If he walks away from NAFTA, I am predicting a soar in jobs and an increase in coffer revenue via tariffs against abusers such as China, Mexico and Canada.

CBO says April was best month in history for U.S. budget

The federal government took in a record tax haul in April en route to its biggest-ever monthly budget surplus, the Congressional Budget Office said, as a surging economy left Americans with more money in their paychecks — and this more to pay to Uncle Sam.

All told the government collected $515 billion and spent $297 billion, for a total monthly surplus of $218 billion. That swamped the previous monthly record of $190 billion, set in 2001.

CBO analysts were surprised by the surplus, which was some $40 billion more than they’d guessed at less than a month ago.

Analysts said they’ll have a better idea of what’s behind the surge as more information rolls in, but for now said it looks like individual taxpayers are paying more because they have higher incomes.

“Those payments were mostly related to economic activity in 2017 and may reflect stronger-than-expected income growth in that year,” the analysts said in their monthly budget review. “Part of the strength in receipts also may reflect larger-than-anticipated payments for economic activity in 2018. The reasons for the added revenues will be better understood as more detailed information becomes available later this year.”

Official numbers are due out from the Treasury Department in a few days, but the CBO is usually accurate to within a couple billion dollars.

Also please note that we just turned in our yearly taxes for 2017 and were based on 2017 earnings. Trumps tax cuts were put into place 12/20/2017. That is how many days before the end of the year for which we just collected. Trumps tax cuts had nothing to do with this april's income. Trumps tax cuts will have every thing to do with next aprils income. We put up big numbers then and I will be the first to thank him. Until then not so much. I also must point out that even with this record income which I am not sure is a record when adjusted by inflation we still go futher into the red for the month. This how ever can not be fully blamed on Trump but can be blamed on our government in it's entirety.

Stop getting your economic news from the morons at NPR and the NY Times.

Effects of Income Tax Changes on Economic Growth

As with every human being on earth, spending more than you take in is the cause of debt, not demanding more income.

By legal and zoning definitions Residential includes single family to four family dwellings. This is the case accros the united states and is uniform across the united states as it establishes a consistant definition for lending purposes This does not need to be complicated. The markets relief valve when residential housing supply does not meet demand is to build more residential housing which by legal definition is single family to four family dwellings. New build applications are a way to gage the amount of single to four family homes being built in an area by county. Every time in history that demand is higher than supply new build applications have increased assuming there is land to put em up. This is not happening in my area which is alarming. If you want to know if this is happening in your area I told you how to find out. Yes rent helps pay a mortage, high rent is also an indicator of high demand which is typicaly met by building more units. Apartment building does not figure into residential applications and would be a big factor in rents. This is not considered residential housing how ever it is commercial housing and would have zero effect on residential housing statistics. I do not know listing times on appartment complexes right now but they are higher than residential simply because closing the loan is significantly more complicated

good----but not actually trickled down ENOUGH------not everyone owns a home.
Uhm...... I have a sense that the strong housing markets is going to lead to
that which caused the BUST of the 70s. ------lots of mortgages, lots of
foreclosures, lots of abandoned properties, lots of squatting-----A REAL MESS

Hmmmm....how did it turn out the last time housing prices skyrocketed?

Sent from my iPhone using USMessageBoard.com

mortgage rates dropped-----mortgages were granted "willy-nilly"----people
defaulted-----banks got overloaded with PROPERTY----property taxes were
unpaid-----homeless people lined the gutters----property owners fled deteriorating
areas-----BIG MESS. In several big cities------New York City is one

You find It "funny" "heregoesagain" It was TRAGIC ------ you enjoy people dying
of hypothermia in the gutters? You enjoy homeless desperate people turned criminal?
