Anonymous targets the CIA
February 10th, 2012 - Websites affiliated with the CIA, Mexico's mining ministry and the state of Alabama were down Friday, allegedly done in by hackers, government officials and a well-known hacking group reported.
A message Friday on a Twitter page and Tumblr feed affiliated with the hacking group known as Anonymous claimed credit for taking down the Central Intelligence Agency's website. The posting read: "CIA TANGO DOWN: https://www.cia.gov/ #Anonymous."

Numerous outside reports indicated the CIA's website was down, and CNN's attempts from late Friday afternoon into the evening to get into the site failed.Asked about the outage on the agency's public website, CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood said, "We are looking into these reports." Additionally, information was "compromised" in a hacking of Alabama state websites, the Alabama Department of Homeland Security said in a news release. "We are aware of the current situation regarding individual(s) claiming responsibility for hacking into a state of Alabama ... public website," Alabama Department of Homeland Security Director Spencer Collier said in the release.

Jack Doane, director of Alabama's Information Services Division, told CNN later by e-mail that state technology experts "are conducting a forensic analysis to determine what if any information has been compromised." It was not immediately clear what websites were hacked or who was responsible. A web page that included Anonymous' signature tag line stated the hacking was in response to Alabama's "recent racist legislation in an attempt to punish immigrants as criminals" - referring to legislation, signed last June, aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration in the state.

Anonymous also provided links to documents, messages and other files that it said it had taken off the website of Mexico's mining ministry. "Hello Mexican Chamber of Mines," a related Twitter post read. "Want to see your emails exposed?" The Mexican mining ministry website appeared to be down early Friday evening.

Top Hacker Turns Snitch, Alleged 'Anonymous' Leaders Busted
March 06, 2012 - Several alleged leaders of the international hacking organization "Anonymous" are not anonymous anymore.
U.S. officials Tuesday announced the arrests of six high-profile hackers, including Hector Xavier Monsegur. Documents filed in a federal court in New York indicate that Monsegur, known in the hacking community as "Sabu," cooperated with the investigation, leading to the arrests. The documents say Monsegur pleaded guilty last August to charges of computer hacking and conspiracy. He currently is free on $50,000 bond.

Monsegur claimed responsibility for attacks on the websites for Visa and Mastercard, two large credit card companies, and the online payment service PayPal, as well as on government computers in Tunisia, Algeria, Yemen, Zimbabwe and the U.S. Senate. Court papers also identified Monsegur as a member of two other hacking groups, "Lulz Security" and "Internet Feds."

Another top hacker was identified in court papers as Jeremy Hammond. Authorities arrested him in Chicago. Officials say the arrests should deal a major blow to Anonymous, which has wrecked havoc on a range of government agencies and private corporations. A group that sends out a Twitter feed for Anonymous assured followers and supporters that the group is okay and will continue hacking.

Hackers are smarter and more focused and committed than the gigantic bureaucracy staffed by drones. It's simple as that. The CIA has been around since WW2 and it's big on Central and short on intelligence. It survives by hollywood fiction.

Mom of alleged hacker: ‘He thinks America is evil’
March 8, 2012 : The mother of Jeremy Hammond, a 27-year-old Chicagoan accused of hacking confidential data from hundreds of thousands of people, said Wednesday her son was a brilliant computer wiz but apparently couldn’t stop himself from applying his genius to “get the goat of America.”
“He does have a good heart, but, I don’t know, he just wants to make those who disagree with him suffer,” Rose Collins said in a telephone interview from her home outside Austin, Texas. “He thinks America is evil, has done everything wrong.” That made for some tension in the family. Collins described herself as a staunch conservative who has attended Tea Party rallies. Hammond’s father, now jailed in a Chicago suburb awaiting trial on a charge of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor, was “very, very far left,” Collins said. “So far off the charts that one more step he’s going to fall off the planet.”

Hammond, she said, was raised by his father after the couple split up and then adopted his politics. “He wants to end capitalism,” she said. Collins said her son could have done anything with his computer skills but had a penchant for using them to raise a ruckus. In high school, she said, he hacked into the school’s mainframe computer to demonstrate its security vulnerabilities. He did the same thing when he went to college at the University of Illinois at Chicago, which earned him an expulsion, she said.

The university confirmed that Hammond was a computer science major but left without a degree in 2004. A year later, Hammond was caught hacking into a conservative website and stealing credit card information. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison. Collins said she hopes her son is innocent. “I’m praying for that,” she said. But she added that she has long admired his courage and passion for his political beliefs, even if she didn’t share them. “He’s a braver man than me,” she said. Hammond is now jailed pending transport to New York, where he will face charges.

School says students’ who chanted “USA, USA” were being racist
Mar 7, 2012 - Opposing team was Hispanic
A Texas school district has filed a complaint alleging that students from a rival school engaged in racism by chanting “USA, USA” at a basketball game. The students involved in the incident were reprimanded and forced to apologize. The San Antonio Independent School District filed the complaint with the University Interscholastic League, the governing body for athletics in Texas. They allege that students at Alamo Heights High School began chanting “USA, USA” after they defeated Edison High School to win a region basketball championship.

Edison’s team is predominantly Hispanic, said Leslie Price, a spokesperson for the San Antonio ISD. “The implication as they are not American citizens,” Price told Fox News. “We understand competiveness and rivalry, but you need to choose your words and think about the meaning behind them.” Price said she believes the “USA, USA” chant was racially motivated. “It was chanted selectively at a school that is predominantly Hispanic and there was understanding of that,” she said.

Price said the school district was bombarded with a number of people who found the “USA, USA” chant to be “very disrespectful.” “That might be chanted at international soccer games,” she said. “But this is not a chant that these students chant at all of their basketball games. It was selective.” According to local news accounts, the chanting occurred immediately after Alamo Heights won the championship. It lasted about five seconds before the head coach ordered the students to stop.

Alamo Heights ISD Superintendent Kevin Brown told MySanAntonio.com that he had apologized to San Antonio ISD officials. “Unfortunately, after the game, we had a handful of students who made a bad decision and we’re very sorry it happened,” Brown told the newspaper. “They made a mistake and we’re going to use this as a learning experience.” Price said it’s not the first time their students have been victims of insensitive chants. Last year students at another school chanted “USA, USA” and “Arizona.” It happened during the national discussion on Arizona’s controversial immigration bill.

So true. Anonymous is smarter and better at what they do than either of these 2 agencies could ever even imagine possible let alone achieve. Those 2 agencies also have unlimited resources. I'll give you one guess as to whether the skills of Anonymous or unlimited resources is going to win out.....
