Put the Libyan internal conflict back in 1861 and is there a difference? The rebels fired the first shot (supposedly) but the basic conflict paralleled what is happening in Libya. Did Lincoln want outside forces responding? Southern civilians were getting killed in the shelling in Vicksburg and Richmond. union forces were pillaging southern farms and towns. Where was the outrage then?

Did we have an unelected leader in place for 30 years?

The North did not want outside interference....The South sure did

How did Lincoln keep Europe from getting involved? He took the moral high ground with the Emancipation Proclamation
