Paradise.
If you do not beleive that we have been living in a era of western hegemony your opinion on this topic is unneeded and if offered will earn you a place on the ignore list for the life of the thread if not longer.

Hegemony (UK: /hɨˈdʒɛməni/ or /hɨˈgɛməni/; US: /ˈhɛdʒɨmoʊni/; Greek: ἡγεμονία hēgemonía, "leadership" or "hegemon" for "leader") [1] [2]is the political, economic, ideological or cultural power exerted by a dominant group over other groups. It requires the consent of the majority to keep the dominant group in power. While initially referring to the political dominance of certain ancient Greek city-states over their neighbors, the term has come to be used in a variety of other contexts, in particular Marxist philosopher Antonio Gramsci's theory of cultural hegemony. The term is often mistakenly used to suggest brute power or dominance, when it is better defined as emphasizing how control is achieved through consensus not force.[3]

Do you believe western hegemony is declining
Do you believe western hegemony is on the rise
western hegemony is declining and will be replaced by Chinese hegemony
western hegemony is declining and will be replaced by Islamic hegemony

I know its on the decline. But its not necessarily a bad thing. Being so forceful on others makes us look bad. I am looking forward to the new west and hopefully it will be less pushy and more laid back.

I will wait until 2015-2016 to give you my view.

Think of it as a long term bump :O)

I voted for 3rd option and China stands as synonym for Pacific-Asia.
It will be Pacific-Asia which holds most debt from other regions.
China already lends more money then the WorldBank.

It's certainly declining. Since the US is funding China's military machine at an alarming rate, they'll probably take over as the world's superpower eventually.

BERLIN (AFP) – Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives lost power in their German heartland after nearly six decades, initial poll results showed Sunday, with the Greens likely to lead their first state government.
Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU) have ruled Baden-Wuerttemberg since 1953, but anger over her nuclear policy in light of the Japan crisis as well as decisions on Libya and the euro drove away voters in the run-up to the poll.
The anti-nuclear Greens claimed about 24 percent of the vote -- about 12 point higher than five years ago -- and were likely to form a coalition with the Social Democrats, who garnered about 23 percent in the rich state.

Baden-Württemberg is a key Federal State within Germany due to its economic power and population size. (Mercedes, Porsche, Bosch and so on)
The CDU (Merkel) has had their 2nd worst election result in the history of Baden-Württemberg. The other election, where CDU got less election-share was in 1952.
Since the establishment of Germany after WW-2 Baden-Württemberg always has been governed by a CDU Minister. Now CDU will be in opposition for 1st time, a defeat of historical dimension.

Merkel's coalition risks becoming a lame-duck due to the 'Bundesrat' (Council of all 16 Federal States). The Greens-CenterLeft-Leftists now have a majority in the Bundesrat.
Would there be general elections, Merkel already is polling below majority for about 1 year.

Next year Sarkozy will loose against Socialist candidate. Sarkozy is polling between 27-30%.
Europe is again shifting to CenterLeft-Leftist landscape.

No wonder after the economic and financial crisis.

Of course...it isn't all about philanthropy
U.S. efforts to counter China's growing influence in the developing world are a likely casualty of the budget battles dominating Washington's politics, as chunks of the foreign aid program face the ax.

That could hurt not just the world's poor, but America's reach in emerging markets where China has ramped up investment and provided easy credit.

hmmm

There are theories that state "empires" rise and collapse faster with technology
I suspect Chinas collapse to be faster and more violent then its rise.
