Look at the restaurant business. There are several restriction on hiring under 16. including the type of equipment they can operate as well as hour per week they can work.

Yeah, but does this include farmers' children?

Hell, I worked in the school cafeteria 5th grade through 12th in return for free lunch. I also had a paper route, worked at a veterinarian after school in HS and bussed tables at P.O.E.T.S on the weekends.

No the farmer can still put his kids to work in the fields as soon as they are able. But he sub them out to work on someone elses farm.

Workplace saftey and restriction on minors is nothing new. Just another way for the haters to get their rocks off.
