The cities and the states you decry, are some of the most wealthy and successful cities in the world, not places out of fantasy movies, except in the minds of people who have never even seen them.
The states run by Democrats are the most wealthy and successful states in your nation. The states run by Republicans are those with the highest rates of poverty, inequality, and racism. Their education systems are a joke and that's killing the goose that laid the golden egg.
A well-educated population is the key to a successful nation, and for 40 years, the Republican Party has been intent on destroying the public school system in the USA. An ignorant population where critical thinking skills are low, is easily lied to and manipulated. (See the education level of the Republican base).
Education is and always has been the key to working your way out of poverty so of course Republicans have created a two-tier education system which provides a sub-standard education and resources to the children of the poor. It's designed to keep minorities communities uneducated and thus barred from high income jobs. Creating a permanent underclass to serve the elites, but not participating in the wealth they're creating.
