A major pollster has some stark news: “Americans’ trust and confidence in the mass media ‘to report the news fully, accurately and fairly’ has dropped to its lowest level in Gallup polling history, with 32 percent saying they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media. This is down eight percentage points from last year,” writes Art Swift, an analyst for the Gallup poll, which first asked the nation to weigh in on the press in 1972.

“Over the history of the entire trend, Americans’ trust and confidence hit its highest point in 1976, at 72 percent, in the wake of widely lauded examples of investigative journalism regarding Vietnam and the Watergate scandal,” Mr. Swift said.

The sentiment has fallen slowly and steadily, and has consistently been below a majority level since 2007.
“Republicans who say they have trust in the media has plummeted to 14 percent from 32% a year ago. This is easily the lowest confidence among Republicans in 20 years,” the analyst noted.

Among Democrats, the number is 51 percent, among independents, it is 30 percent.

considering congress dicovered in the 70's the CIA has agents running the mainstream media,is that really a surprise? the media is nothing but a TOOL for the government, they work for them. thank god for alternative media.

I'm getting the impression if Breitbart had reported Obama won the Presidency in 2008, NY would have called it a lie

MOST of the mainstream media is nothing but the propaganda wing of the DNC....and it appears they are not fooling anybody.

One of the things that pisses me off the most is how these elite snobs from the left think that everyone is stupid except them.

Partisans need to stop shitting up these threads and realize that both sides' media outlets are totally full of shit. If you want remotely decent news you have to go searching for some low key, small scale outlet that the big wigs simply haven't noticed yet.

Yes, but the point is that the media claim they are not biased one way or the other. We all know the MSM leans left.

Think about this for a moment. There just isn't enough diversity in coverage in news statations and newspapers anymore. Local news rarely ever does its own investigative reporting and just parots what the national news agencies are saying. I would think that it would be more useful if their was more diversity over what is covered that way the news as a whole may uncover some interesting stories instead of paroting everyone else's work. it is a very narrow band of truth that we are seeing because of that.

Some of it leans left.

If this latest stunt by CBS...of editing out the word "frequently" from what Bill said about the type of Apoplectic Fit the ole crone just had....if that doesn't open people's eyes, even the eyes of loons....the spasmodic fit where she lost a shoe and nearly Faced Planted on a curb....if that doesn't help folks realize we are not far away from PRAVDA....anybody who doesn't recognize the seriousness of what CBS did...actively trying to change votes with LIES...is on Drugs, or a Government Check...likely both.

You have to be really deep into the Free Stuff to condone what CBS did.
