If anyone has ever entered a military administration office, the first thing they have to notice are the numerous bookshelves laden with regulations and pamphlets. Having been an Administrative NCO I can tell you it’s mind-numbing.

According to a memo signed by Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson, Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright on April 19, the service has combed through 778 regulations -- eliminating 328 of them and revising the remaining 450.

"The benefit to airmen is the elimination of unnecessary tasks, reduction of inspection checklist items, removal of duplicative instructions and elimination of conflicting guidance," the memo states. The news was first reported by Stars and Stripes last week.

"Decision authority is now pushed to the lowest level, and waiver authorities have been streamlined and are less cumbersome," according to the memo.

The last paragraph is the one I like most.

Example of the difference between chairforce and Marine Corps. Congress authorizes a new Marine Base the Marines spend the money first on mission important things and when all the REQUIRED infrastructure to carry out the Marine Corps Mission is completed they work on services for Comfort like gyms and theaters and such. Congress authorizes a new Air force base, the Air force ignores the runway and all infrastructure to do their mission and work first on creature comforts when those are all done they start on other infrastructure still not building the airstrips. When they run out of money they tell Congress the airfields are not done and Congress gives them more money.

The Marnes haven't built in new base in forever, but your point is more or less spot on regarding funding, except the Navy gets the funding.

In Bosnia and that area when we had Marine and Air Force air craft and equipment in Italy to enforce the UN edicts, the Marines lived in Tents on the airfield and were treated as of they were in the field on a critical mission. The Airforce lived in barracks and got paid extra cause they claimed the barracks were subpar.

Sounds to me that you picked the wrong service to be in. But then again, most of the jobs in the Army and Marines that takes higher rank to do is done by an AF E-3 on a routine basis. The AF does not get paid more. So they use other incentives to retain people. If you would rather have those incentives in luea of more pay then you joined the wrong branch. So how about less crying. It's disturbing the others sleeping in the other bunks. And I bet you snore too.

Not cry dumb fuck pointing out that the air force is a bunch of sissified snowflakes.

Low ASVAB score, huh?

HE missed the first question. It said, "Print Name" and he filled in "Print".

I had a friend who was an Air Force Communications Officer while I was serving in the Navy. As a Captain (O-3), he described his duties to me, and the more he talked, the more I laughed. When he finished I told him that he had just described the duties and responsibilities of a Navy Radioman, fresh out of "A" school as an E-3.

The Chair Forces rank structure is top heavy and as slow as fog off of shit on a cold day. Reting after 20 years in the Chair Force at E-6 is not unusual especially considering I would have made E-6 in about 5 years in the Navy. The reason is that no one ever gets out, leaving a stagnant pool of people who have to wait until someone dies or retires in order to move up.

98 percent actually

Same here. I took it as a sophomore in high school.

I dropped out in 10th Grade and took my GED 5 tests 2 days which was unheard of supposed to only take 2 tests a day.

Well, when I joined the Navy, a GED would get you directions to the Army or Marine recruiters next door.
I joined in 1974 they had just started the all volunteer military, and it was the Army, my dad was career army. Joined the Marine Corp in 1979.

Funny you should mention retiring at E-6 in the AF. I retired as an E-6. I had them mail me my paperwork. There was a time when they were clearing out all the Vietnam and Vietnam era vets out to make room for lower grades to do the same jobs and a lot of E-6s and E-7s got nicked .

You think that's funny. We had E-3s working on F--15 Radar Systems on the benches. And they could do the flight line work as well if needed. They were actually computer pros. No contract work on those systems. Meanwhile, just down the street, the Army had Computer Specialists that pulled the black boxes from the SA sites and turned them over to contract maintenance. They had a really neat handle. Our guys were just Radar Techs. Both the AF and the Navy have some really strange ways of figuring out what rank does what job. It doesn't make sense often times. But the only thing you squibs can do better than us is tread water, all that hot air won't allow you to sink.

There was a time that the AF took GEDs. Tthen they came up with a program to send them back to school on duty to get their real diploma. There weren't many of these folks. It didn't last very long. When I went in, only grads needed to apply but that was during the Draft where the AF didn't have to do a damned thing to fill their quotas and neither did the Navy.
