AGW made simple for the doubters

No one disputes that a Greenhouse effect occurs. What is disputed is that man caused the 1/3 of a degree raise in temperature from 1980 to 1998 and that somehow, even though no raise has occurred since we are in a situation where the Greenhouse effect will occur.

The pet theory that CO2 caused it doesn't pan out because from 1998 to 2012 it has CONTINUED to rise and no heat increase has occurred. Further historical records indicate CO2 FOLLOWS rising temps NOT causes them. And of course there is that pesky scientific fact that as CO2 rises its effects on the heating of the earth goes DOWN.

You're wrong and quite mistaken about everything you just said. You've swallowed a lot of lies and propaganda coming from the fossil fuel industry. Your denial of reality does not actually effect reality.

NOAA: Past Decade Warmest on Record According to Scientists in 48 Countries
Earth has been growing warmer for more than fifty years

July 28, 2010
(excerpts)

The 2009 State of the Climate report released today draws on data for 10 key climate indicators that all point to the same finding: the scientific evidence that our world is warming is unmistakable. More than 300 scientists from 160 research groups in 48 countries contributed to the report, which confirms that the past decade was the warmest on record and that the Earth has been growing warmer over the last 50 years. Based on comprehensive data from multiple sources, the report defines 10 measurable planet-wide features used to gauge global temperature changes. The relative movement of each of these indicators proves consistent with a warming world. Seven indicators are rising: air temperature over land, sea-surface temperature, air temperature over oceans, sea level, ocean heat, humidity and tropospheric temperature in the “active-weather” layer of the atmosphere closest to the Earth’s surface. Three indicators are declining: Arctic sea ice, glaciers and spring snow cover in the Northern hemisphere.

“For the first time, and in a single compelling comparison, the analysis brings together multiple observational records from the top of the atmosphere to the depths of the ocean,” said Jane Lubchenco, Ph.D., under secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator. “The records come from many institutions worldwide. They use data collected from diverse sources, including satellites, weather balloons, weather stations, ships, buoys and field surveys. These independently produced lines of evidence all point to the same conclusion: our planet is warming.” “The temperature increase of one degree Fahrenheit over the past 50 years may seem small, but it has already altered our planet,” said Deke Arndt, co-editor of the report and chief of the Climate Monitoring Branch of NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center. “Glaciers and sea ice are melting, heavy rainfall is intensifying and heat waves are more common. And, as the new report tells us, there is now evidence that over 90 percent of warming over the past 50 years has gone into our ocean.”

Is global warming still happening?

CO2 lags temperature - what does it mean?

Denier Myth - Increasing CO2 has little to no effect

Ah, but the idiots will simply put their fingers in their ears. Reality is foriegn to them, all that matters it the 'way things oughter be', and the maloderious mouthings of an obese junkie.

Morons can not be taught facts. No significant warming since 1998 is a FACT. Deny it all you want, you are stupid but you are entitled to your ignorant uninformed opinion.

Morons can not be taught facts.
Yeah, we know, you demonstrate that every time you post.

No significant warming since 1998 is a FACT.
No, it's not a fact, it's a myth of your cult.

Global warming since 1995 'now significant'
BBC

10 June 2011
(excerpts)
Climate warming since 1995 is now statistically significant, according to Phil Jones, the UK scientist targeted in the "ClimateGate" affair. ...another year of data has pushed the trend past the threshold usually used to assess whether trends are "real". Dr Jones says this shows the importance of using longer records for analysis. "The trend over the period 1995-2009 was significant at the 90% level, but wasn't significant at the standard 95% level that people use," Professor Jones told BBC News. "Basically what's changed is one more year [of data]. That period 1995-2009 was just 15 years - and because of the uncertainty in estimating trends over short periods, an extra year has made that trend significant at the 95% level which is the traditional threshold that statisticians have used for many years. "It just shows the difficulty of achieving significance with a short time series, and that's why longer series - 20 or 30 years - would be a much better way of estimating trends and getting significance on a consistent basis."

GLOBAL WARMING....

Couldn't have said it better myself, you poor deluded retard.

You've misstatated that "pesky scientific fact", the effects don't go down, they go up more slowly.

No one said it would be straight line. Natural cycles will still have their effect. What's stupid is thinking we can keep adding more CO2 in DAYS than all the volcanoes on earth do in a normal year and not have an effect.

BBC News - Volcanic origin for Little Ice Age

Only a complete nut thinks we can control nature in any way.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS!!! Growing ice sheets contribute to coling by reflecting light. The converse is also true, when ice sheets shrink, a warming feedback is created.

From the article,

When the researchers plugged in the sequence of eruptions into a computer model of climate, they found that the short but intense burst of cooling was enough to initiate growth of summer ice sheets around the Arctic Ocean, as well as glaciers.

The extra ice in turn reflected more solar radiation back into space, and weakened the Atlantic ocean circulation commonly known as the Gulf Stream.

Growth of ice sheets feeds back into the cooling cycle by reflecting more sunlight. Conversely, shrinking causes less reflection and feeds back to warming by reflecting less.
