With this merger they will still only be the 3rd largest company of this type, so hardly seems to be a monopoly and no reason to break them up.

Is there a point when one or more companies become so big they control an industry? Should such a company or companies be broken up.

The answer to your question is yes companies can become too big, but I am not sure I would oppose it in this case for a couple reasons. The first being they are in a narrow sector of the ag market. The second being that the sector they are in is highly vulnerable to weather-related shortages. Having a company with a broader supply base will make the company more stable as an investment and as a supplier.
