Just unbelievable! He could not bring himself to go to Belleau, the very place that the US Marines earned their nickname Devil Dog, because of a light rain!

He was scheduled to go in the helicopter. Obviously the flight was cancelled due to the bad weather.
Going by car from Paris would had required a small army to mobilize with him without it being planned.
Yet every other world leader that was scheduled made it, and the rain was not that bad, Marine One is not afraid of the rain.
Yea, I’m sure you’re an expert on flight weather. I’ve seen aircraft crash due to a small crosswind.
The other “world leaders” didn’t go to the cemetery, they went to their own events they already had planned, with their own transportation and security.
You would be amazed what one learns spending 20 years in Marine Corps aviation including being the Operations Chief for a Marine Corps Air Station, that just happened to be home to helicopter squadrons.

Saw lots of them cancelled due to weather, never saw one cancelled due to light rain. In the Corps we have a saying "if it ain't raining, we ain't training".

Marine One trips aren't very long. I've seen Cobra Pilots train in the Camp Lejeune rain.
