Oscars: Two Accountants Involved in Best Picture Mistake Won't Work on Show Again, Academy President Says

The president of the film academy says the two accountants responsible for the best-picture flub at Sunday’s Academy Awards will never return to the Oscar show.

Cheryl Boone Isaacs tells The Associated Press that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ relationship with PwC, the accounting firm responsible for the integrity of the awards, remains under review.

Boone Isaacs broke her silence Wednesday following the biggest blunder in the 89-year history of the Academy Awards.

PwC accountants Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz were responsible for the winners’ envelopes at Sunday’s Oscar show. Cullinan tweeted a photo of Emma Stone from backstage minutes before handing presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway the wrong envelope for best picture. Boone Isaacs said Cullinan’s distraction caused the error....

So Emma Stone just happened to distract the envelope guy, which just happened to cause the guy to hand Emma Stone's envelope to Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway? The plot thickens.

I would not be too surprised if PWC gets fired for this.

Then the Academy will need to chose someone else.

The obvious choices are:

- EY

- KPMG

- Deloitte

- BDO

- Grant-Thorton

These are the new Big 6.

Imagine if the winner was LaLa Land and they accidentally announced Moonlight as the winner and then had to correct it.
There would still be rioting going on at this moment.

Probably wouldn't have 'corrected' themselves.

The people responsible will never be a part of the show again? If what happened was an accident, firing them in my opinion is rather harsh. Was anyone physically hurt or killed because of what happened? No. Was anyone able to right the wrong? Yes and did they do just that? Yes, now move. Gee whiz! To be fired over something so trivial in the grand scheme. They mixed up an envelope. It isn't like they stole anything. At the end of the day, the mess was taken care of, now move on.

God bless you and them always!!!
