'Have Conservatives Lost Their Compassion?'

""As Bonnie Kristian pointed out in an article for TAC last year, police brutality in America is systemic—and the punishments dealt out for police misconduct are minimal. The city of Baltimore payed $5.7 million to victims of brutality between 2011 and 2014, and “more than 100 people have won court judgments or settlements related to allegations of brutality and civil-rights violations.” Here is a list of some of these victims of police brutality:

"A 15-year-old boy riding a dirt bike, a 26-year-old pregnant accountant who had witnessed a beating, a 50-year-old woman selling church raffle tickets, a 65-year-old church deacon rolling a cigarette and an 87-year-old grandmother aiding her wounded grandson. … Officers have battered dozens of residents who suffered broken bones — jaws, noses, arms, legs, ankles — head trauma, organ failure, and even death, coming during questionable arrests. Some residents were beaten while handcuffed; others were thrown to the pavement.""

oh brother, look at you liberals wailing over a State law in Indiana, wailing over a baker making a cake, a flower shop, homosexual marriage, threatening people and states if they don't bow down to your demands. HOW damn compassionate has that been?

When you show compassion for others, we'll TALK

Where's the honesty here? You jumped to wild conclusions based on a few highly publicized cases, misrepresented law enforcement liability and punishment then broad brush conservatives as lacking compassion? Is this really how your mind works or are you just jerking people around?

Contrary to the emotional blackmail some leftists are attempting to peddle, Baltimore is not America’s problem or shame. That failed city is solely and completely a Democrat problem. Like many failed cities, Detroit comes to mind, and every city besieged recently by rioting, Democrats and their union pals have had carte blanche to inflict their ideas and policies on Baltimore since 1967, the last time there was a Republican Mayor.

In 2012, after four years of his own failed policies, President Obama won a whopping 87.4% of the Baltimore City vote. Democrats run the city of Baltimore, the unions, the schools, and, yes, the police force. Since 1969, there have been only two Republican governors of the State of Maryland.

has represented Baltimore in the U.S. Congress for more than thirty years. As I write this, despite his objectively disastrous reign, the Democrat-infested mainstream media is treating the Democrat like a local folk hero, not the obvious and glaring failure he really is.
Every single member of the Baltimore city council is a Democrat.

Liberalism and all the toxic government dependence and cronyism and union corruption and failed schools that comes along with it, has run amok in Baltimore for a half-century, and that is Baltimore’s problem. It is the free people of Baltimore who elect and then re-elect those who institute policies that have so spectacularly failed that once-great city. It is the free people of Baltimore who elected Mayor Room-To-Destroy.

Being in denial, will never solve anything....there is way to much lack of inner focus and too much finger pointing and shouting on both sides..This will never solve anything....

Then calling it a mind is a generous. My dogs do more thinking than that.

Here's a response to you and your website called of all things the: American Conservative:

snip;
Democrats and their never-ending grievance campaigns; their never-ending propaganda that government largess is the answer; their never-ending caves to corrupt unions; their never-ending warehousing of innocent children in failed public schools — that’s a Democrat problem, not America’s problem.

I might believe Baltimore was an American problem if the city was interested in new ideas and a new direction under new leaders. But we all know that will never happen. After Democrat policies result in despair and anarchy, Democrats always demand more of the same, only bigger.

And the media goes right along.

And things only get worse.

I wish you all the luck in the world Baltimore. And I truly wish you had the courage to change. If you ever do, send up a flare. Until then, there is nothing anyone can do for you. You are victims of your own choices, and no one can make choices for you but you.

As far as the good people of Baltimore trapped by the terrible voting of your fellow citizens, I suggest you buy more guns until you can move to a city not run by those who see rioting as part of the Master Plan.

I am not a conservative. This is merely commentary of commentary.

There is no justification for rioting. Lemme repeat that: there is no justification for rioting. Purge pamphlets? Really?

You want to reach conservatives? Tally up the amount of cash spent on lawsuits. They won't admit it to your face but secretly they are looking at the numbers and saying, "You wasted how much on what?"

Purge pamphlets were made by the government. This is because the riot was pre-planned, it was staged political event. I thought the article was excellent though.

Of course there is no excuse for a riot. In fact, the residents of Baltimore largely didn't want to have one. If you study Edward Bernays, you will find that constructing one is largely a scientific matter. To participate in one, once they start though, is an individual choice. Mob mentality is a tricky thing. I was once on the ground when one started and had that choice. I walked away. They are infectious though.

We must remember, that the economic conditions for the riot have existed for some time now. They exist in every poor town in every city in every State. And not just in minority communities. Focusing this problem on minorities is a convenient release valve though, and it separates and divides the electorate. This is a common ruling device used by the elites.

These riots had nothing to do with race. It had to do with power and control of the elite over the rest of society. If the wealth disparity had not been so bad, if there had been a larger middle class, if more good paying jobs were available, there would be no Freddie Gray's or Micheal Brown's. Hope would be restored. As it is, this serves the overlords purpose to distract the electorate.

Wealth disparity was much greater during Depression years so your point makes no sense. Very few good paying jobs are going to be available in areas rampant with crime, drugs, violence single moms on welfare, etc. Those Korean store owners were making the best of a shitty situation and look what it got them.

The bottom line is that liberal policies don't work and all this is smoke and mirrors to try to cover it up. The puppet masters pull the strings and the lemmings follow.

using breitbart as a source in the CDZ? Are you serious Stephanie ? :eusa_eh: :eusa_doh: :eusa_hand:

who can take someone serious who has a stupid clown face as an avatar.

man oh man. they look stupid:cow:

and that has anything to do w/ the fact I posted how Stephie?
As to the OP, the intellectual arm of the GObP has been consistently shunned by their base and they are predictably silent on most issues

I didn't read through all the apologies for racism, no need to as they are all the same finger pointing. But consider only the current republican effort to squash the Black vote over a non-existent problem. Funny how the problem only exists for republicans. Is there any need really to consider America today as tolerant, Christian, or just? No need the words of the right show their faces.

It is curious that the right argues there is no excuse for rioting, when our nation was founded on rioting. The rights of the military (During the Great Depression) and the rights of workers were all gained by rioting. Curious that history wears blinders for the right wing in America.

'The Clock Didn't Start With the Riots Black people in Baltimore are subjected to violence all the time.'

"When you think about the period of Jim Crow and the stripping of black people’s right to vote, this is not the mere stripping of some sort of civic ceremony. It’s the stripping of your ability to have any sort of say in how your tax dollars are used. It’s this constant stripping, this taking away of rights that allowed us to enter into a situation that I talk about in "The Case for Reparations," where—within the 20th century—you have programs being passed by which white families can accumulate masses of wealth through housing. The main group of people who are cut out of that are black people... That’s federal policy. It’s not just a matter of private evil individuals.

That’s federal policy. It’s not just a matter of private evil individuals. We get this picture of these white racists walking around with horns, you know, who use the “n-word” all the time, and I guess look like Cliven Bundy. That’s what we’re looking for, for a bunch of Cliven Bundys. But Cliven Bundy has never really been the threat; it’s the policy that’s the threat."

oh boy, first some blog called the American conservative and now the ATLANTIC

They are the places to get UNBIASED reporting. :lmao:

gawd, spare us your all's self righteous nonsense and then you all can shoot your high horses

you've worn them out and broken their backs

You see how they want to SHIFT the blame off themselves folks.? the usual tactic

Baltimore isn't PROTESTING..... they went into FULL BLOWN rioting.

and that isn't the Conservatives fault. the CITY IS RUN BY DEMOCRATS and has been FOR YEARS.... and they brought IN the race baiter Al Sharpton on top of it all.

So lay the blame squarely in their laps where it should be

We have too many laws and too many police and too many people in prison for stupid crimes
