Donald Trump is ahead in the Republican polls and here is a self described right wing extremist that approves. Here is why: Donald Trump is changing the rules and these rules are stacked against Republicans.
I believe there is empirical evidence to state that the mass media acts as an arm of the Democrat Party. To state that the majority of the members of the mass media are Democrats and that they both actively and passively promote Democrats and their agendas should not be controversial. This should be obvious by aware fair minded people. The mass media writes the rules. This does not turn out well for the average Republican.
What are the rules? First, interrogate, I’m sorry, interview, a member of the Republican Party. Ask lots of questions designed to catch that Republican in a sound bite that is hurtful in some oblique way to a Democratic constituency. Blacks, minorities, women, LGBTs, and the poor are all excellent in this regard. Then let the dance begin. That is, this offending statement is picked up by the left wing web sites designed to create and propagate Republican damaging controversies (Media Matters, anyone?). The left wing web sites will then publish them en masse with the same left wing damaging perspective (Why are you racist?). Now, the mass media must pick them up. Why? Because they are news. Everyone is talking about them. Then, get the offending Republican on every news channel to apologize for the offending statement. This is usually done with some incredibly brilliant response like: “I am not racist!” Not done yet. How do we hurt the entire Republican Party with this media created controversy? Answer? Get every Republican to comment on how they must distance themselves from the offending statement. Bingo. They just destroyed the entire Republican Party and reinforced their media created narrative of evil Republicans. No Democrat is ever made to distance themselves from controversies in the Democrat Party. Why aren’t news anchors asking Hillary to make a statement on the gruesome revelations about Planned Parenthood? Donald Trump does not play by these rules.
Donald Trump may make a statement that offends somebody, somewhere (and he has). The media then tries to start the “The Media Dance of Destruction”. They try to get him to apologize. He just ignores the question and moves on. They don’t know what to do. They ask other Republicans to comment. Some take the bait. Trump moves on. He creates another sound bite that makes additional news. The media must move on, trying to catch up to the news cycle. How refreshing.
