Boy George - then and now

Former '80s pop star Boy George was sentenced to 5 days of sweeping streets for falsely reporting an incident. From the photograph, it's hard to believe this is the same fellow that sang "Karma Chameleon". He looks like like a bloated Uncle Fester. To quote Scripture, "Oh how the mighty have fallen!".

Judging from his remarks, after cleaning New York City streets, he ought to spend some time cleaning up his act. That guy's mouth is so foul, I'm surprised he eats with it.

I wonder, if a celebrity like Boy George can be put through this humiliation for the relatively minor crime of falsely reporting an incident to the police, why couldn't an appropriate punishment be meted out to, say, Jane Fonda, Sandy Berger and others?

I think part of the answer is "they have better attorneys", isn't that it?

P.S. I find this blurb from the article pretty amusing

Later the exhausted star, who was supervised by a uniformed guard, paused for a fag break....

Since the article was written for a British newspaper, the word "fag" has a totally different meaning than it does in the States (a "fag" is British slang for a cigarette). But considering that it's Boy George, the American usage is appropriate, too! :)
